because he's too cool to respond to my personal message for an idea.
alright, so how about, when someone quotes something you say in a thread, a little star pops up beside the thread on the left side where there isn't anything (on the title) and you can go in and see what it is. this would be a nice way to keep in touch with conversation instead of just randomly checking.
and it could be an on/off feature if it really needed to be.
 
I'm on dialup so 1/2 my messages in the last week have no loaded properly and I didn't see yours as a result. geez!

Its a sweet idea though and one I've been suggesting for a long time too.
 
I think it would be good for things like blogs, reviews, and photos/video.

Not sure how the "quoted post notification" would work out as I can see some people taking advantage of that in the forums...
 
I can see people quoting one post in a thread over and over again and then when the user who made that post logs on they have 20+ messages that all say the same thing...thats going to be a huge pain in the ass I think.

 
well the beauty behind my plan is its not an individual message sent everytime someone quotes you to your personal messages, its just a small asterisk on the left side of the title (maybe you could make a column for it, called "replied"), so you know that someone has quoted you in that particular thread, and you can go in and check it at your will. and since you can only see it if you are logged into your account, its just so simple there is no way it can't work.
 
Pinkbike does something like this. It is really cool. You should just make an account and then post in an off topic forum and when it gets replied to it is really cool. It is VERY similar to what you are talking about.
 
There would just be a perpetual star if we had it, but I guess it would be cool if we could have a quick way to see the replies.
 
perpetual star? no, there would only be an asterisk next to threads that you have replied to, and someone has quoted your reply. thats it, thats all, and you can check it or not. all this does is promote discussion.
