Rusty edges

i took a "class" on this. the rust is harmless except for the fact that your edges are slowly getting eaten away. a good tune will get rid of surface oxidation. if it's really a concern to you, wipe down your skis after using and keep them inside (i sleep with mine). that should keep the rust from coming back. now, if youre one of these newschooler guys, then it dont matter, because your rail slide is doing waaay more damage to the edges/skis then rust ever will. NOW THAT'S THE DEAL- GO SKI.

Like captain said -- you'll probably break your skis or buy new ones long before a little surface rust will ever negatively affect your edges.

A scour pad will remove it too and won't harm your base or dull your edge like a gummy stone. Which wouldnt' be to good towards the tips and tails but if it's underfoot who cares.

Leave the rust there long enough and it starts to pit fairly deep. Some skis that have come through my shop have severly pitted edges, some so bad that the edge is no longer as strong as it was before.

Get it fixed, especially before you put your skis away for the season.
