Rusted tech bindings - fixable?

So I acquired a free pair of dynafits, and everything seems fine, but the pins front and back are rusty, reckon it is fixable? Anyone had a similar experience? I am hoping cleaning them up wouldwork, but wanted to ask here.

How rusty are they? Do you have pictures?

The pins are usually made out of a steel alloy and normally pretty hard/ dense. So you could probably remove the rust using WD40 or gasoline and everything should be fine.

I forgot to grab a photo, I will grab one after work. Thanks for the response, so far things sound like they may be okay.

Here are the photos. On second inspection the little spring on the toepiece has some rust on it too. Hm.

yo Im down for a janky binding setup, but rusty tech bindings seems like a no go zone to me. Maybe if you are able to fully disassemble and regrease everything but idk

I agree with this mostly, disassemble, clean, grease, reassemble. At the same time it's not like tech bindings actually release consistently so it will *probably* be fine? How do you feel about your knees?

Damn, the answer I was hoping no one would say?. I do plan on trying to deconstruct them and clean/grease as much as I can. They were free, and I am super ready to just say nope, not worth it. Appreciating the responses folks, I likely will not get to it for the next couple weeks, Mum is in town.

Yooo those look yanked!

Dismount them, disassemble them, sand of the rust and clean everything as good as possible, grease it up and put it back together!

Will probably take you 1-2 hours but hey you got free tech bindings after that and rescued an old pair from the dumpster!

Yanked hahaha not sure if that is a pro or a con. I was fired up to save them from the dumpster if I can. I was planning on a full disassemble and clean up, as much as they can come apart. I will 10̷0̷% post progress and/or after photos when I get to it, but as I said, it will be later. Gotta hang with me Mum.

I'd run them. Looks like some surface rust on the inserts and the heel pins so that shouldn't really affect the performance of the binding, especially a tech binding like yours.

If you can clean up most of the rust and everything moves as it should I think you will be fine.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Should be getting after it a week from now. Keen to see how it comes out.
