Rust on Edges ???

So i think what happened was some ice or packed snow melted off my bindings and some water must have touched the edges.... So i had a couple very small spots of rust on my edges. I basically wiped them off, but noticed they still had a dark stain from where the rust was. So I know rust is never good. but is it really bad?

How can i prevent this in the future? because I dryed them off nice, except i couldn't get some of the snow out of the cracks in my bindings... should i put a hair drier on them???

I wouldn't really worry about it man.. its not good to have rust but its nothing to fret about. Just buy a diamond stone and clean em up once and a while. Mine are rusted to fuck right now and all I did was wipe em off.

you can just ski off most rust

I used to be picky about drying off my skis after i was done... but it became too much of a hastle. a little bit of rust isnt going to affect your skiing that much, so i wouldnt worry about it.

Amazing thanks guy. I'm pumped for my trip to JayPeak next sunday, It'll be my first trip to a real mountain. hopefully i get runs in the glades, park ,

PEACE

Oh nice you're going to Jay? Youre in for a treat. Jay rocks, they get so much snow, and the glades there are nice. Even a week after the last storm (which they have one like every 3 days...) theres nice soft pow in the trees, and chutes. The face chutes rock, but if your not a confident skier yet then those are a no-go. Either way you'll have loads fof fun at Jay. There park isnt that bad either, they've got some nice hits there too, along with a rainbow, a rollercoaster, 2 boxes and an s-rail. Good times man, Ride On.

yeah ii'd like to hit some boxes and hits, and prolly just the glades without cliffs, is that what u ment?

Jay Peak rules for glades. man, when I was there this year, there was a glade open up there called Everglade. It's definately my personal favorite run ever. The chutes and whatever park they have weren't open when i was there as it was real early in the season. If you have balls the size of watermelons and skill to match try taking the gondola up and skiing the cliffs you see on the left of the gondola near the top. It's utterly insane shit.

break it down...hard

Yeah, I used to anal about wiping off my skis. Now I just throw them on the ski rack and leave them there overnight. But, that's just because I'm a bum and have nowhere else to put them...

A tiny bit of rust overnight isnt a problem, but if you leave them for a summer or three without wax then they will rust up quite badly. Just get an edge and wax to fix them up again. Or jusyt blast some rails, that should wipe it off.

In tractor pulls, a 'full pull' is the best you can get. Ahh, how sport mirrors life.

i just ski it off

easiest way to prevent rust, if you use a top-of-car ski rack, keep them in a bag (so not exposed to road salts) and when you get home (or where ever you are going) do not leave them in a bag. Small amounts of rust aren't bad, and can either be skied (if light enough) or tuned out.
