Russia gets 2014 Winter Olympics

bull....SHIT

fuck that dude skiing halfpipe is a must I can't believe they've gone this long without one

i know i'm bringing back this post from the dead but i just read an article about it in SKI magazine. I was wonderin'g what you guys thought about this, don't you need some special permission / special visa just to visit Russia right now? this really should be interesting and I really want to go.

They lifted that due to the ever increasing loss of population...

Their immigration policy has become quite liberal over the last few years so I understand.

i dont know if thats true... i was in finland this summer looking to take a train to st. petersburg and they asid i needed a visa.

yea i think my parents wanted to visit moscow over the summer and decided to go elsewhere because it would have been too big of a pain to get the paperwork taken care of. i'm really not sure though, i'll look it up tomorrow after i get back from class

Well, to get into russia, you do need a visa, but a few years back, they had this thing where you practically had to apply for citizenship to get in there at all...

at least thats what I understand anyway...

I was in Russia this summer. I'm pretty sure that you need a visa to get there, but not 100% because I have a Russian Passport so it never concerned me. Sochi (place where olympics are going to be) is in pretty bad condition right now. That place will change an incredible amount though. Sochi is very mountainous. Just random thoughts there

Sochi is where Krasnaya Polyana is located - The place where Pep is shredding in Hit List. (just one example)

I expect it to grow exponentially... its on the black sea coast, which is interesting. Its a resort town of sorts... Hopefully it helps russia get back on the map (as if it doesnt control 1/4 of asia as it is) They are hurtin right now.

And personally, I think Sochi would be pretty sweet... Its right on the coast, and then its also right against some mountains. Thats insane on so many levels.
