They look strong but they have only played two of the weakest sides in the competition.. Same for England. We won't know how good they are until the knock out rounds.

Sure thing, tho. That's just another reason why I'm so hyped about the match between the two of them. First test for both. Guess Belgium will come out on top, but let's see.

I hope England beat Belgium in a dazzling performance. Get their Hope's up and then are quickly demolished in the round of 16 or semis. Oh better yet they make it to the final and it goes to pk's and then they lose. Fuck I hate England. Like a deep seeded hatred.

Probably comparable to a city if their team is in the super bowl ... everybody is so hyped. England flags pretty much everywhere

Pretty much the same here in Germany. But now that we're out you don't see that much Germany flags hanging around.

As much as I like the thought of that, I seriously doubt it. They've been getting pretty lucky and haven't been playing nearly as well as France Belgium and Brazil imo.

I'm not there right now but my dad is British and he's excited to see them get into the quarters but he's also not exactly impressed by the team's performance so far. I think there's this paradoxical feeling where most people fully expect them to choke up due to decades of world cup misery but they are still optimistically enchanted by the idea that its the world cup and anything can happen.

Yeah I mean the only team we’ve beaten convincingly so far is panama so we’re certainly not dominating. But winning on penalties was huge here (tbh I’m happier we won on pens than 90 mins in a way just as it gets the stigma off our backs). The other main thing is everything is just falling out way. And riding a healthy degree of luck and optimism is always a good start.

Having said that, I backed France to win after they beat Argentina and I still think they will
 
I would have liked to see a final between France and England way more than a final between France and Croatia, but anyway.

The 3rd place match is gonna be great tho.

yeah yeah its a bittersweet feeling of devastation though because its further than theyve ever made it in my lifetime and i was honestly just glad they got out of the group stage. but we were so fucking close! in 2022 its coming home! lolol

I thought england were creating a lot of good chances in the 1st half but I knew they were fucked when they couldn't convert on them because they always fall apart towards the end of the game and croatia had the talent and experience to capitalize on that. It always seems like they're surprised to get the ball in the attacking 3rd and don't know what to do with it.

Oh well, it'll probably be a really good final but I'll probably be mountain biking or fly fishing instead of watching any more games.
