BOSTON --
A Boston College student is in serious condition after being struck by a suspected drunken driver Sunday on the school's campus. Beth Pfalzgraf, the 21-year-old victim, was walking down St. Thomas More Road when she was hit by the car just before 1 a.m., said a Massachusetts State Police spokesman. The road bisects the school's Chestnut Hill campus, connecting Commonwealth Avenue and Beacon Street. Police said the driver sped away after striking Pfalzgraf, but campus police were able to locate his vehicle in a nearby parking lot a short time later. Benjamin Knott, 18, was arrested and charged in the crash. He will face charges of causing serious injury while operating under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury. Knott was ordered held on high bail. The date of his arraignment was not immediately available. Students said they weren't surprised the crash happened at that particular incident. They said drivers often fail to slow as they come around a nearby corner.
