Does anyone know when Ruby Hill is supposed to open. The website says coming in January but does anyone know more specifically than that?

welcome to west denver.

it opens in january whenever temps are consistently low enough to blow snow nightly.

they have trucked it in before for rail jams and what not, but they normally have two blowers from wp that they run most nights.

a few years ago when we were there, we heard gunshots go off in the lower parking lot, and about 10 cars speed off right after. its always an adventure

So i just googled that and I read christie sports doe free rentals. Any truth in that? I am in colorado, quite close to denver at the moment, but didn't bring my skis cause I'd rather not ski my round edged park skis here.

ya dde. ruby hill is in the straight ghetto.its normally like %20 gaper non white people from the neighbor hood, 30% kids that arent like legit 10%little kids and parents and like 40% legit park people. also, echo is small as shit. nothing past a green and only 600 ft vert. like 3 runs and 50% gapers and 50% park rats

Yeah I saw that a few weeks ago.... super bummed. Is it cause its not cold enough or does Winter Park not want to spend the money on it because of such a poor snow year?

Ruby Hill was always a fun place to drive over and dick around for an hour, but Echo has always been a waste of time. By the time you are murking I70 just go to Keystone

DENVER (CBS4)[/b] – Mother Nature is getting some help from snow guns at Ruby Hill Park.

During the extreme cold snap Denver is in the midst of there has been very little snowfall. But with the way snowmaking is going, Ruby Hill Rail Yard could be open by Friday.

Volunteers for Denver Parks and Recreation and Winter Park Resort started snowmaking at the nation’s only free urban rail yard last week.

In previous years the park has opened in January and has closed a month or two later. Last year was the second winter since the rail yard first opened that the hill didn’t open at all because of to warm temperatures.

Ruby Hill features “six to eight rails of varying configurations and levels of advancement.”

The park is located off of South Platte River Drive and West Florida Avenue and is open every day from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Lights will be on at the rail yard until 9 p.m. Free equipment rentals are available at the hill.

God Damn I miss Ruby so bad. Those boxes and drinkin with other ski homies was enough to relieve the tension of not being able to get up i 70 for the day.

Salt Lake needs a ruby hill SO BAD

I'm writing a letter tonight.

I checked the website, but just wondering.. is this a small hill with just rails and boxes?!Looks pretty sweet!

They had one step up pipe 2 years ago that was a blast. boxes are just easier to put into the ground with little snow i think.
