Rossignol s4 question

so i was catching up on a past issue of skiing and it said in the gear guide issue for 08-09 that the s4 had an adjustable binding system so you can "easily change your mount between center and traditional". what is this? the skis dont come with bindings so what are they talking about. the system would be a cool feature imo because if there was pow you could slide em back or forward for a park day but only if the feature didnt add to much weight to the set up. anyone know anything about this or have s4's? +k all the way for good info.

My friend next door has a pair and I honestly don't understand what they are talking about. They look like any other ski. What's this all about?!?!?

my friend has them and i think it's something similar to the K2/Marker schizofrantic thing with optional reinforced holes to put the bindings in or something ill have to ask him

Cant you choose, with or without the free system?

Rossignols site istn really helping.. This is what you get when you want to learn about their free system..:

FREE SYSTEM

OPEN-UP YOUR STYLE scegliendo la posizione di montaggio sullo sci.

0 - modern stance Backcountry

+3 - addicted half pipe

+6 - mid cord park

disponibile sul modello S4 Park Free System

Good Luck and thank you rossignol!!

O, and if you want something like this, like somersover said.. Marker is comming with a similar system where you can choose youre stance.. But I am pretty shure Markers System doesnt work the same and will be a lot better!! So if you want it, wait till next fall..

i made a thread on this a while ago, after it came out in SIA last year. its almost exactl;y the same system that burton has on one of their boards, its got a track and then the inserts for the bindings. you can get the ski with or without the free system. i personally think its a great idea and have been waiting for a company to do this for years. the thing i dont liek about teh schizo sytem by marker next year is that the track is actually part of teh binding and not in the ski. it looks cluttered and liek it is heavy and could break. time will tell. i would buy both systems though, good ideas

I have a pair of those S4s and they are just reinforced holes in which you can put the binding. you cannot actually slide the binding like you would with a demo binding tho. when you buy the skis it comes with a chart for center mount and "freeride" mount. the toe peice of the binding slides on a metal rail system which is fastened by a sort of miniature ladder like contraption. and i find it odd that it doesn't include bindings cuz when i bought them i got a pair of SAS 140s with the skis. so all in all, if you want to change your stance on the ski make sure u bring a screwdriver and the chart with you cuz ur going to go nowhere without those 2 items.
