IMO Quicksilver is making a poor decision to sell Rossignol. Though Rossi has had a few rough years (just like most ski manufacturers) due to lack of snow and who knows what else, they still have so much brand power and possibility for growth.
Quicksilver shouldn't judge Rossi on their past few years, but on the companies life. Rossignol has been one of the strongest forces in almost all aspects of skiing for a long time. Their skis and bindings are some of the best, if not the best.
This last year Rossignol sold out their entire line of Scratch skis. They have a sick lineup for next year and have continued to develop their brand in the ever changing market of freeskiing. Though their sales haven't been as good as years past and they have had problems with debt, Quicksilver is being to quick to judge. They don't see the difference in Rossi as a ski brand instead of a line of surf products.
As a brand, Rossignol is possibly the most recognized in the world of skiing. When Rossi has their name on a product, any generation of skier can recognize it as a high-quality product. So has Rossignol died? No, their is no way the brand Rossignol has or will die anytime soon. Do you realize the potential that the company has? Imagine if you had a sick ski design and wanted it to sell, the best way to get people buying it would be to approach a top company, and despite their recent losses, Rossignol continues to be at the top.
They have way too much to flop and all of you need to realize this. They have sick new skis and boots, outerwear, the best warranty, and a huge brand new office in Park City. The company is still pushing and it doesn't look like thats going to come to some kind of immediate halt, despite the outcome of Quicksilver's sale.
