Rossignol FKS

Since everyone has great reasons to like the FKS, I would like to ask why everyone likes the Jester so much. I can't get my head around it, the things are so freaking expensive. You can find the P18, STH series, FKS 155/185, 916, etc. for less, and you never hear bad things about those bindings....yet so many people swear by the Jester when I hear a lot of good and bad about them. What gives?

i chose to put jesters on my fatty pow skis rather than fks 155s for the fact that the brakes are easier to deal with and there is a less chance of rip out. I haven't had any regrets so far

It means that instead of the heelpiece being mounted on a track, only releasing in an up and down motion, the heelpiece is on a turntable thing that pivots in a side to side motion 360 degrees around, helping for safer releases in twisting falls.

When they were made they were sprinkled with magical fairy dust to make a a better skier, but now that dust ran out.. so they dont make them anymore.

lol... in all seriousness- its all about the turntable heel baby. short mounting pattern for better flex, rotating heel for safer release (and it looks cool), and metal construction for better durability. I've got some, and they're the tits. never pre-release

If the heel is mounted on a turntable thing, are there any way to slide the heel back and forth if I get new boots or something?

jesters have more abundent parts a wider mounting pattern , that go for the fks/pseries bindings.

i got mine with my skis for a good deal, better than i wouuld have paid if i serched for some fks. i also never knew the wonders that are fks bindings.

They have very little adjustment... something like 2 mm either way so if you got new boots you would most likely have to remount.

today i was standing in line with my fks 120's and did a front flip on the ground pre released and did one without ski, damn upward release, but yeah get a pair

Its almost certain that they will be back sometime next year, at least thats the general concensus at TGR.

Fucking stoked!

Some mag on tgr is apparently confident enough in his info that he can confirm 100% that they will be available next season. His source... Rossi and look product managers(According to him)

Judging by the TGR thread, the bindings will be revived next year :D
why else would a rossignol- sponsored rider be using them?

ive got a pair of p18s on my hellbents and you can unscrew the arms up until you get to the 3rd hash mark which is about 10mm

when you change the length of the bail, it will travel about 1cm but that's not all horizontal. say you have them originally mounted in the middle position, in that case, you can only travel 2mm in either direction. if they were originally mounted all the way down on the bail, you could probably get 4-5 mm of travel in one directionl. but yeah, i have skis mounted to 297mm and i can't get a 293mm to even come close to fitting.

For one who has literally squandered around ebay and obscure ski shops to finally obtain 4 pairs of these, they are totally worth it. Best binding ever: solid iron, never pre-release, releases when you need them too, looks fucking sick! (that really shouldn't be a big selling point, but these bindings give me a boner), allows for more true flex of the ski, simply construction/easy to maintain...the list goes on and on.
About the fks coming back, I've been looking into this for a while and I'm still really skeptical about people claiming that they're being brought back. Up at hood this summer, my coaches both told me that look and rossi were bringing them back, both in a race form and a wide brake form and that they should be available for the 09/10 season. Yet, on that very same 3 weeks at Hood, I was riding up the lift with John Spriggs (not a claim, just trying to explain that I talked to someone who knows about next years gear and probably has good info on Rossignol and what they are doing) and I asked the question about the fks, and he said that's not the case, claiming that he hadn't heard that they were being brought back, but if they are, they'd be through Look because Rossignol wasn't going to from what he knew. Then, during the x-games (especially the superpipe), I noticed that all the Rossi and Dynastar riders were skiing on fks, not px, and that they all looked brand new, not all scratched up from years of use like Tanner's, Jacob's, Schiller's, and others that regular use them are (check out ski movies to see what i mean). And now, SIA rolls around, but there are no fks pictures, only px18 and px15 pictures. So, bottom line, don't believe anything you hear regarding the bindings. I've heard both things for the past couple months and all are from respectable sources, so it's hard to know who to believe. Keeping my fingers crosse though.

The TGR thread has some good info on it but here is what a mag who claims to be a pretty big rep had to say:

"""the "new" binding has been rumored (told to me) to be anything from: -DIN12/DIN15/DIN18

-with a choice of brake widths (90/110/130 you buy the width you want, not interchangeable of course)

-"P" style toe

-"ZR" style toe

-new "wide body" screw pattern in the heel (the toe already is wider than the "wide body" markerting attempt)

-only in black and only from LOOK (conversely any color and also from Rossi)

-not available now/maybe available now (it's not what you know, it's who you know)/available at x-mas next year/in catalogs 2010-2011

as i mentioned earlier i've been burned by rumors in the past so i will now refrain from confirming or denying anything until i have the bindings in my garage... """

yeah mine were mounted for a 318mm and i downsized to a 308mm and got them to work. but they are all the way in.

The fks have been destroyed forever, onlyyuuuuu certain shops have them:O get them while you can or Rossi will go out of business :O
