Rossignol dragging Quiksilver down

From their 2nd quarter financial report:

The current quarter includes a charge of $240.2 million related to discontinued operations. Quiksilver has classified its Rossignol division as discontinued operations. The company sold its golf equipment operations in December 2007 and has begun a process to sell Rossignol.

yea im defiantly seeing less and less rosi stuff in freestyle. Andreas used some this year but thats just about it

i've said it for years:

BRING BACK THE ROOSTER
and get rid of the gay R. sales will through the roof.

They've been at a loss for a while.

This coreUPT nonsense only makes me less likely to feel badly for them.

yeah this problem isn´t from a few months ago, but it´s been since quik bought rossi, i met a couple of guys in europe that they used (note the D) to ski for rossi cause, they keep em reducing the budget for the fs team, on and on, so they just split and found new sponsors... that sucks cause rossi is one of the best brands in skiing actually...

my cousin works for a shop that deals with rossi and when i talked to him about their bitchin new skis he said that they had not even released an order booklet to the shop yet ....... this was back in march - april and by that time they had basically ordered all their others 09 skis ....... BRING BACK THE ROOSTER

ns should buy rossi and make some sick skis and outwear!!! designed byt he members! that would be soooo sick!

i like my rossis that i have, i think rossi has been going down hill because they have failed to sign up and comming athleats to their team, basically failed in the marketing aspect. Where do you see rossingnol around anywhere now besides on andreas?

Yea, your right, we dont have any athletes...

Sage, Dre, Spriggz, Houle, E.MAC, Treadway, Kye, K.Rolland, A.ROSS, Bertoni, D. Wise, seibert, Hopkins, Bouvier, P.White, C.Logan, Barnhill, Perkins, and thats just thinkin off the top of my head!

^yea i guess i kinda of ment more that rossingnol has failed to expose their athlets, obviously rossingnol dosent have bad talent, not saying that at all. (or didnt mean to). just how they failed to market their athlets/products.

They did! Last year they did a 1907 collection.(for their 100 year bday) It was mostly clothes but sick stuff non the less.

Some people are retarded. What does park skiing have to do with Rossignol going down, it's a fraction of their business. 99% of what Rossignol puts out are carving and race skis. They are a huge ski company and have been around for over 100 years. If you walk into 1 of the 298364458967349 rental shops in France you understand what Rossignol's core business is. And yeah, no country in the world has as many recreational skiers as France.

And this is why Rossignol is doing badly. The (percieved) effect of global warming and less snow. Even if there are incredible snow years, people in the city BELIEVE there is no snow anymore because of global warming. People book different holidays.

Skiing in France and the rest of the alps is not what it is in the USA. We have thousands of resort, scattered all over. Everyone skis, poor and rich. It's a big industry and if people are pulling out of it (which they are), the economic impact is enormous. And marketing to the couple of thousand newschool skiers you might reach, won't ever compensate for the millions of recreational skiers pulling out.

their skis arent too hot. the scratch is for short and/or little people. the flex pattern on those is so dope though. i liked the creatit thing too, that seemed like a cool idea. too bad about candide. at least they have hatveit. the new S4 is gonna help them a bunch though. i think the real hits they are taking is in their demo level offerings, like the b94 and the b73 and all those. nothing about that line stands out anymore. its just... blah. i remember back when i was a wicked gaper and my uncle had rossignol vipers and i thought they were so ill. i was so hyped on them. what happened!?

News on the buyers will be out soon enough.

As for the 2ed quarter numbers if you were listening to Quik's report even though they listed Rossi as dicountinued buisness due to the sale, Rossi's numbers were in line with expectations. Rossi spends a lot of money in the 2ed quarter (April,May,June) buying mateials and building skis. The 4th, and 1st quarters are when the money comes in.

Check out the other threads on this. PK our N.A Team Manager has some great insight as to the future of Rossi and where it is going. The 09 gear sold in well, and we are encouraged by the early reviews on the SAS, Phantom, and Classic lines. The new boots are sick as well.

I heard a rumor that Look was considering buying Rossignol. Although it seems logical, I am not sure it is possible.

Rossignol is a staple in the ski industry. I can't ever imagine them not existing. Although look at companies like Hart who were at the top of the game at one point and are now barely on the radar.

If (Hint) Rossignol comes back with the FKS style binding then they will explode

**At hood I rode up the lift with some rossi guys who were talking about how they are coming back with the FKS

I think rossi owns dynastar, but I thought that originally roxy skis were basically rossis with different graphics, or do they all make the same ski like they do the bindings?

They are basically Dynastars (The roxys that is)

Rossigonol/Dynastar/Look have always been real tight, and I am still not quite sure where the distinctions lie.

In terms of bindings, I believe all dynastar and Rossi bindings are rebranded looks, but I am not totally sure.

And I think Rossignol used to own Dynastar, but Dynastar may now be independent?

Either way, I don't believe Rossignols situation will impact Dynastar whatsoever.
