I am sure rossi spends alot of money for that add on top of the screen but that drop-down is driving my insane. It blocks the forum button and gets in my way like 98 times a day.
 
No. Just no. Nothing about that ad is awesome. I don't care where the link takes you.

'm all for advertising on the site, as long as it isn't intrusive to how the site functions. Please remove it, and any other similar ads that invade the parts of the sites we use.

You're not "all for advertising" on the site if you're going to bitch about what's good in your opinion opposed to whats good in NS's opinion. Ads are ads, if you don't like them, that's your problem. I hate the Rossi ad too, but I'm not going to tell the admin to remove certain ads just because they're not to my liking. There are few ads that should most definitely be deleted. But an add related to skiing? Hmmmmmm.
 
At least its a ski related ad guys. As much as some of these ads can seem annoying at times you really should try not to be too negative about the whole situation. I know can be frustrating at times but without ads NS would not exist. Hosting videos, pictures, webcasts, having awesome writers on staff, etc. these things all add up. So I feel your pain but we will make it through this.
 
Ok then. How come the rest of the ads seem to stay in their alloted space? Same with the ones on the right side of the site? Without intruding into the rest of the content? Those ads are sweet. I can click on em if I want to, or ignore them just the same. And they pay NS as well. I just think that it's pretty dumb to have an ad that imposes on your members ability to access parts of the site. I guess in the end that's a decision to be made by the NS staff, just throwing it out there.

I've never posted in site discussion before mainly because I think that this site functions great across the board. This is the first thing I've ever felt was impacting my experience and the site's ability to function smoothly in a frustrating way.

And to be honest I don't care what the ad is for, skiing or not. As I write this I'm looking at a Pier 1 imports ad, letting me know I could win a 2009 VW Beetle, or a $500 Pier 1 gift card!!! I could really care less, but the ad isn't stopping me from writing this post. It's just there, and someone paid to put it there (maybe even more than Rossignol?). SWEET! The minute Pier 1 crap jumps out into this box and stops me from typing I would make the same suggestion about that ad. "At least it's a skiing ad" is a dumb argument. Whoever wants to help pay the bills can get adspace, skiing or otherwise. I understand how business works just fine.

I thought the site discussion forum was to discuss stuff on the site? What you like, and what you don't? Not trying to be negative, just trying to let the NS guys know what I think. I'll definitely make it through this, as will NS. It's just a suggestion.

 
Personally I agree with you. I haven't had the problem so I don't know how bad it is. We fully encourage talk in Site Discussion to help make NS a better place.
 
i posted a thread on this but i'm pretty sure it got deleted. the rossi ad is very annoying, but hey guys its what NS has to do. yeah i do with it could be somewhere else. i want to punch my computer because it scolls down about 3478645 times a day. but if we keep posting up here about it maybe some minor things could change about it ?
 
very good post sir. i would've posted a thread about this annoying ad until i saw that it already had been made. i'm fine with it being there, as long as it doesn't block me from going to forums. its aggravating and will probably make negative vibes form against rossi on NS, if anything. +K for intelligent post
 
I agree as well. Although the ads on this site are the a big portion of it's revenue, it is mildly annoying to have ads that inhibits the site viewer from navigating. I feel that the ads should not be interactive, they are there for money and for the people that are interested in the merchandise. I guess ignoring it would be the best solution, but since this appears to be a problem for most of NS, it should be addressed and fixed.
 
I was about to make a thread about this. that ad drives me fucking nuts. It needs to be changed. They buy space on each banner. not down across the menu and into whatever you're looking at.

i know this is an older thread but i must display my anger and annoyment with the drop down add, every time i go to the forums button i want to smack a foo
