Rossi Pow Ski: Sickle or S7

I can currently get a great deal on some Rossi skis, and I've narrowed it down to these two (since the super 7 and squad 7 don't come in a small enough size for me).

I'm about 5'8", 140, so I would get the 178 S7 or the 181 Sickle.

This ski will be in pow about 95% of the time--from tree skiing, to some medium sized cliffs, to maybe building some bc jumps.

The Sickle seems like it would be great for jumps, just because its nearly symmetrical design would make switch landings easier. The only 2 things that keep me from deciding on the Sickle are the tiny amount of rocker (although it's full tip-to-tail), and the fact that the 141-111-133 sidecut seems a bit thin for a pow ski. The 145-115-123 on the S7 isn't that much wider, but the more dramatic rocker in the tip and tail makes me think they might float significantly better than the Sickle.

Those who have skied the Sickle: Does it float well enough with such a small amount of rocker?

Those who have skied the S7: Do you find riding switch in pow difficult with the thinner tail?

Thanks!

As always, +k to good responses.

you will be fine with the sickle. its a dope ski. If you are doing any switch pow landings you do not want the s7

I'd go for the sickle, 4mm less underfoot will hardly be noticable and with the more gradual rocker the actual surface area in contact with snow should be similar.

I actually sold my Super 7's and just bought a pair of Sickle's because I didn't like the feel of them. The S7's weren't a bad ski, just not as jib-oriented per se as I would have liked.

Unless you are an incompetent tourist, don't get s7's. The tips on those flap at speed and they really aren't a great ski if your charging hard. They are pretty heavy too. You sound like a very freestyle oriented kid so sickles would be a great fit! Full slight u rocker and 111mm will float fine at your size, if your sinking your not going fast enough.

They measured a lot longer last year than they ran on snow because of the huge tips. They shrunk those down this year so the sizes are shorter. EG 185=181, same running length.

I demoed the sickles for three days in prett good powder and they float amazing! Also when the groomers get chopped up they charge. Probably would of bought them except for the fact they had demo bindings on them. Go sickles!

The Sickle is a fully rockered ski - they call it banana rocker. Of course it will slay pow. The S7 on the other hand is a rocker-camber profile like the chetler, JJ and most other skis in that category. I loved the S7 but felt the tip to be too donkey-dickish and the tail to be incredibly inspiring on hard snow for its size.

Thanks for letting me know! I'm getting a package deal though-- 2 pairs of skis and a boot, so I have to stick with that.
