hey, i just picked up a pair of skis w/ rossi axial 140 race bindings mounted for a 28 boot. i have a 29 boot. i can make myself able to snap in cleanly by setting the forward/backward adjustment on the heelpiece all the way back. am i asking for trouble by having it this far back?

sorry for the crappy cell phone pic but here it is set back:

There will be a couple marks on the side of the baseplate that will show you if you are adjusted within where it should be. It looks like you're well out of that range to me.

Its not that long. The forward pressure screw isnt even engaged. It sits in the last inch of the heel, which isnt even on the track in the picture. You really only get 10mm forward and back at most, virtually none with an fks

He means that the heel won't function properly set that far back on the track. You can't set the forward pressure correctly which is fundamental to binding adjustment.

Generally the p series could accomodate an extra size boot forward or back, but that assumes that they were mounted with the heelpiece right in the middle of the heel track. (something in my head is telling me they have 40mm of total adjustment in the heel)

I'm thinking that they were originally set for a shorter boot than 28/28.5 which is why going from 28-29 mondo is proving to be an issue
