yeah, i have the 09 s3's and i have them mounted at true center. but above the mid sole line there are two other mounting positions that are marked +3 and then +6. This sounds insane but are these forward mounting positions for insane switch riding?

The +3 is a great all around mounting position that will make the S3 ski great all over. The +6 is going to be more for someone in the park all the time, or for switch pow pow jibbing.

I was thinking the same thing. I feel like mounting these in the wrong place can completely fuck them up. I really want a pair haha but I already have 3 pairs of skis.

I have been looking at buying these skis and I have also been trying to figure out where to mount em if i do get em. Since they will ski like a symmetrical ski on groomers, i figured if you go further forward and your not spending a shitload of time in the BC riding/landing switch, you will end up riding what will feel like a forward mounted symmetrical ski (since you wont be able to utilize the portion of the tip that is rockered) and that would ski like ass i bet.

So, IMO, if you ride/land switch a lot in the BC and you are barely on groomers, consider going a little forward of recommended as to utilize the extra length with the rockered tip and to help balance out the switch riding.

If you are spending a lot of time on groomers, consider how a symmetrical ski is going to ride when its mounted forward of the center of the normal cambered portion. I'm not totally sure how that would ride, but its something to think about and consider.

the other mounting position are closer to the tip then true center though....meaning there is less ski at the front then the back

I alsways thought that 0 was the center of the sidecut and +6 was the geometric center (same amount of tip and tail on either side) im not really sure can anyone comfirm?

maybe im nuts and not thinking clearly but couldnt you center mount the "symmetrical ski" but still be at a traditional mount when skiing pow. cuz if you think about it theres a difference of 18mm from the widest part of the tip to where the contack point it, and a difference of 8mm from the tail to the point of contact. we carry the skis at the shop and ill take a closer look and measure everything up next time i go in.
