Roommate: Blessing or a Curse? Need help

I signed up for a dorm room next year for my school. There was like only one room left (there were others but they were shitty small rooms and this one was a good location and good size) so I chose it. After completing the paper work I find out who my roommate is. OH LORD, its this kid from my high school. The kid skies park at my local hill and the kid also plays lacrosse (in highschool we were on the same team fresh and soph year) I ski park and I love lax, so this sounds like a match made in heaven right? Wrong. This kid throughout knowing him is generally an asshole. While on the lacrosse team together this kid seemed to not like me, for whatever reason. So now I have to think, will this be an awesome roommate because when its warm we can lax and when its cold we can ski. And he won't look at me as weird like my current roommate does when he walks in on my trying on all my ski gear in anticipation for ski season. So do I try to change my room and get a new roommate or No?

"LOL DIDN'T READ." (Sparknotes)

Pros- new roommate skis and plays lax

Con- not a nice person

So give him a chance or get out of there?

No just be alpha as fuck. Every day when he wakes up call him a pussy and everytime you see him say "whats up shitface" or "whats up bitch tits"

Thatll teach him

shit in a plastic bag, and poke holes in the bag and put it in his pillow case. when he lays down the poop will squirt out. then proceed to make fun of him for pooping his bed. all the other kids at your school with hate him

This is your idea of being an alpha male?

I'm getting give you a serious response, even if you guys aren't happy about living with each other, you're still going to be living with eachother. You guys should suck up your differences and try being nice, and if worse comes to worse you really don't have to converse with your roommate that often. Be a grown-up try being nice to your roommate.

This, if you've known him for some time, hit him up and be legit with him. Get on an equal footing now when school comes round next year it will be fun for both of you.

People change over time and maybe he never actually got to know you. Maybe if he found out you guys are into the same shit you'll get along pretty well. Just wait and see and if everything goes to shit you can always change during the year.

just don't make a big deal out of it, and be upfront. If you have a test and don't want him bringing a girl back or something, tell him in advance, but expect to give him the same courtesy. Sounds like you guys already have a bit in common, and I would just ignore the highschool shit if you don't know for a fact that he hates you. If you are a decently normal person and just communicate what you want reasonably, everything should be fine.

Its college. At some point in your life you are going to realize that you aren't going to get along with everybody, and you aren't going to like everybody. Take this as an opportunity to learn to live and deal with somebody who you might not like. I was the same way when I found out who my roommate was in college, looked like a huge hick and I knew I wasn't going to get along with him. But we set aside our differences and actually became great friends.

you're gonna be living with him for a year, sack up and get over whatever highschool drama you are dwelling on. if you cant get along with someone you have to live in a closet with then you're gonna have problems.

First of all this isn't high school.

does he fuck bitches, is he a good wingman

does he party

does he blaze (if you blaze)

does he hangout with similar people (mutual friends)

i think it is pretty cool that you have a dude you know rides park skis and plays lacrosse. I had two random roommates my frosh year and neither of them partied, drank, or fucked bitches. that didn't mean they were bad people you just relate to them differently.

Make sure he walks in on you jerking off and look him dead in the eyes. It will freak him out and he will respect you

So why weren't you on the same team as him junior, senior year in high school?

He figured he wasn't good enough to be on our schools lax team so he transfered to another to be on theirs, i played his new team my junior year, and I was on our schools jvb team and we stomped the shit out of their varsity.

It's college not highschool. Let the highschool shit go. If there's still drama with this kid be like "Hey man, we're in college now can we just get past this shit?"

There's no guarantee you're going to like your next roomate much at first either. You might end up being best friends with this kid, you might never be friends. See where it goes and if it's really bad then go try and find another roomie.

This. Up side you have a decent living space. There technically isn't a downside yet could be all up you never know. just be yourself if you're friends you're friends if you're not then you aren't. I've been roomies with friends before and it can always cause issues cause you don't want to be an asshole to your friends or have your friends walk all over you while cooped up together. I have been fortunate enough to have not had any complications with roommates.
