Ron Paul

oh, and could someone please remind me of the name of the candidate who ran for the senate or the house in the 2006 elections for i think connecticut. he didn't win, but he beat out the front runner of his party in the primaries by using the internet and blogging to get his name out.

anyone remember?? it's killing me that i've forgotten.

thank you.

anyway then, ned lamont could be an example of a man who was just "internet hype" and still came through will results.

So, its more realistic because Ron Paul has third instead of fourth? I dont know why it should get more credibility if less people voted overall than the straw poll, which, I will agree with you, is fucked anyways.

no thats not why i think its more realistic then the iowa poll at all. in the iowa poll huckabee, tancredo and brownback all placed higher then not just Ron Paul but also Giuliani and Mccain. im pretty sure thats not how the country feels. i think the illinois poll is closer to the actual feeling of the country according to all the hundreds of polls before and also common sense and a slight grasp of politics will tell you that a poll that has someone like sam brownback who doesnt believe dinosaurs existed or someone like tancredo who wants to bomb civillians doesnt truely represent the feeling of the whole country. also i dont believe its more credible , i never said that.

They placed higher than Guiliani and Mccain because they never focused on the straw poll. They put their resources elsewhere so yeah it was really expected that they would place really low. The reason, again, Ron Paul places higher in online polls is BECAUSE he's mostly internet hype. Just wait until the group dwindles down in the debates. I'm going to guess it'll be Mccain, Guiliani, Brownback and Romney.

If the presidential debate was held on the internet right now, Ron Paul would win by a landslide. So quit with the bullshit that no one is going to vote for him. Mitt Romney is not going to win because he is MORMON. The country will not stand for a Mormon president and the only reason he is winning is because of mormon religous voters flooding the vote count.

Seriously, you have repeated the same argument over and over and over, come up with some new material you peice of shit. and like I said before, GET THE FUCK OUT OF THIS THREAD. You must be scared that Ron Paul has a good chance because any chance you get, you try to put his campaign down. He's only getting higher and higher up in the polls. Ron Paul is a top tier candidate, there is no question about that now. You have already lost Skierman. Seriously, RP is starting to raise a shit load of money.

dude, Mcain and Ghouliani are a joke. If they dont think every single straw poll is not important than they are wasting their time running for president. They are all over the TV and newspaper every single day on the hour but yet they still lost to Ron Paul. Ron Paul has ran for president before in the 70's so he knows what to do and what not to do. The other candidates have no real experience. Ron Paul also was on President Reagans presidential winning campaign crew. He knows what the fuck he is doing. All Romney does is just throw a bunch of money at each debate, Ron Paul uses his message instead and saves his money for the real elections coming up in the future.

Oh yea, I think RP will win the Texas straw poll coming up in Sept 1. :) Why do you say? Because thats where he is from and they elected him to congress so they already know his name

actually paul ran for president in 1988, he was in congress in the 70's. and he's from pittsburgh originally, though he has lived in and represented texas for many years.

i do agree with you though that he seems to have an excellent chance in the texas straw poll and things do seem to be going his way right now.

uhhhh i know why giuliani and mccain placed low i never said i didint understand that. my point was that the iowa poll was fatally flawed. also again RP getting most of his support from the internet is a GOOD thing! i would rather have a candidate talked about on the internet then the mainstream media. your really really showing you have no idea about whats going on if you think brownback is a serious candidate. sam brownback is less then 1% in national polls. mccain is going bankrupt and has gotten less then Paul in national polls. the frontrunners are giuliani, romney, thompson and paul.

I actually think it's a toss up between Brownback and Paul. The reason Paul would stay in is because of his internet popularity and he's saying the right things about important/popular topics such as the Iraqi war. He gets quite the response from the crowd on some subjects that Romney and Giuliani get. I've never put down Ron Paul as, like you said, internet popularity is better than nothing. Yes McCain will most likely go bankrupt, but he will make it far before that happens. It's more of, who's campaign will go bankrupt first. Again, Brownback is just a guess and wouldn't be surprised if Ron Paul stayed in longer than him.

I'm only going to address Eleven now because Conceptkid isn't worth the time. He's all fucked up with fallacious reasoning and can't keep up worth a damn. It's like trying to debate with a little kid.

huckabee is in much better shape then brownback, if there is any unknown candidate who has a chance its huckabee not brownback or tancredo.

Theres a point between raising awareness and getting a message out an fanaticism. You both are walking a fine line, and your attacks on other people in this thread arent helping your position. Everyones entitled to their own opinions, but think about what you are doing and if the people reading this thread are really going to want to vote for your candidate after the shit you've been saying and doing. Just saying.

Tancredo is a congressman for the 6th disctict in Colorado (south of denver, then east to kansas, ie. a lot of suburbian moms and farmers)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Tancredo

this will be as objective information on him as you'll find.

(my completely non-objective point of view is that he's a worthless representation of Colorado... and YOUR ski country)

i would agree with that definitely. i don't like huckabee's stance on much of anything, but he's somewhat well-spoken and likeable, and that's unfortunately more important than having sensible, intelligent policy ideas when it comes to getting the vote of the average retarded american. tancredo's a nut-job; i don't understand how he did so well in iowa, but it doesn't say much for iowans.

hopefully giuliani and mccain snubbing the midwest early on will hurt them on a national level, giving paul and (unfortunately) huckabee at least a decent shot of breaking decisively into the top tier.

That guy is lucky I wasnt there, I would have blindsided him with a soccer ball to the dome. Look at that fucker, trying to act like he is tough or some shit, what a disgrace to America.

In other news, here is a clever internet pic I made that brings Ron Paul into the internet realm of LOLcats. I think RP has passed lolcats as far as internet popularity though.

so here's a story... bear with me here.

i work at a local coffee shop. not the one where the younger locals go to, but the middle aged locals. i usually don't bring up politics with my usuals, it's just not proper business, but i've began a campaign for my local school board and many people have been curious about my ideas.... thus, i've been talking politics a little bit more. this has given me a chance to talk up ron paul a bit in addition to my own campaign.

what i've been pleased to find is that many of these people are happy to hear about a different candidate and like his ideas. they go home, research him, then come back the next day to debate some of his policy ideas... some even saying they'll vote for him in the primaries. (all are thankful actually, that i mentioned him because they otherwise had not heard of him). in the end, adults from 30 to even 70 are interested in hearing about him. it hasn't mattered if they're die hard republican, democrates, or slightly leaning, they have all seemed to appreciate ron paul as a candidate.

and that's my story.

You know what I find ironic? That Ron Paul is getting so much support from the internet, when he is against net neutrality. This guy wants to hand over the internet to private corporations and his main body of support is the very people that privatizing the internet would hurt the most.

Anyway, everyone here should check out this site http://www.dehp.net/candidate/index.php before committing to any candidate. It will ask you about the issues and show how candidates rate based on your opinions.

Holy shit, that was pure pwnage. Thanks for posting that.

And to Ghostfacekillah, never trust or agree with a guy who looks like this.

most liberals are arrogant. most republicans are just as bad only in different ways. most libertarians have their head on straight.

Every political affiliation has their nutjobs, their arrogant ones, etc. To say that most of any party has their head on straight while most of another doesn't is just silly.
