Ron Paul

actually, I was researching Obama the other day with my sister, so I'll post some of the reasons my sister likes him, all of which are intriguing to me as well:

-his pro-choice stance - he believes that an abortion is not something done casually and if a woman (general statement) gets one, it's because it was necessary according to her situation.

-he's against 'gay marriage' yet for equal gay rights - I personally like this a lot, as it shows his conviction for his faith, yet demands equal rights for all - This isn't a cookie-cutter democratic stance.

-Pro-Union

-Supports increasing gov't to college students

I had to share this. Its insane how well written this is. Ron Paul is such a heavy hitter. JEAJEA

Having a conference at the Google headquarters is a big fucking deal ($$$$$) and they have ALOT of media power. We can be a part of history folks, lets do all we can to get him in office. I donated 50 bucks and hope to donate more!! I also read that Ron Paul has recieved the most donations from people in the military, they want to get the fuck out of iraq.

July 17, 2007

What a day and half in northern California! On Friday, my first appointment was

at 6:00 am, and my day ended at 11:00 pm. I did radio and tv interviews in San

Francisco, followed by a meeting with the editorial board of the San Francisco

Chronicle. The questions were tough but fair: my favorite! Meanwhile, more and

more interview requests pour into the campaign. There is a real hunger for our

ideas, even in the mainstream media. The message of liberty is popular!

Then I headed for Google, one of America’s great businesses. Some of the young

stars who populate that company took me on a tour of a firm that seemed like a

university student union. I saw where everyone works, eats, and exercises.

Next I did a political YouTube interview with questions submitted from the web.

I was told that never had Google, in the entire history of this series, received

the sheer number of questions that it had for my interview. People care about

freedom.

Then I spent an hour answering questions from Google employees, crowded into a

large room with overflow rooms overflowing too. Next was fascinating briefing

from some of the technical heads of Google Earth, Google Maps, Google Apps, and

other extraordinary innovations. Then there was a press conference for the

media gathered in a company courtyard, and then a fundraising reception that a

group of Google employees had organized off-site. In the evening there was

another successful fundraiser.

Saturday morning was the Silicon Valley Meetup in a park right next to Google.

A huge and enthusiastic crowd was there to hear about our ideas, and the

diversity was astounding. There were bikers in leather and hippies, young

parents and grandparents, high-tech workers and business owners, and so many

young Americans.

I talked about all our ideas: marching out of Iraq just as we marched in; no

more meddling in the Middle East; bringing the troops home, from hundreds of

expensive bases all over the world, so that we could have the money we need for

the transition to freedom in social programs, and to abolish the personal income

tax and the IRS. They are not compatible with a free society.

In a Ron Paul administration, we would also repeal the Patriot Act and the

Military Commissions Act, restore habeas corpus and stop the spying on

Americans. No more eavesdropping on our emails and bank accounts, our phone

calls, home and businesses. No national ID -- just the bracing freedom of the

Constitution.

We must have sound money, and not a giant counterfeiting machine called the

Federal Reserve that causes recessions and inflation. We must have private

property rights, with no pollution or other attacks on property. We should

enforce the Second Amendment, and all the Bill of Rights. We can have privacy

for us, not secrecy for a corrupt bureaucracy.

It is all within our grasp, the restoration of the republic and our

sovereignty—no UN, no North American Union, no Nafta, no WTO, no World Bank, no

IMF. Just federalism, free enterprise, peace, prosperity, and the kind of

future we all want for our families, ourselves, and our fellow Americans.

The dream can be a reality. You can help make it so. Please: make your most

generous donation to this effort for America’s future

(https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/). Instead of wars and inflation and spying

and poverty, we can have peace and freedom and the blessings for our children

and grandchildren of doing better than we have, of secure retirements and

childhoods. No more theft -- of our savings or our liberty.

Please -- give to this campaign, for all our futures

Sincerely,

Ron

^Go to that website and scroll down a bit and download the pamphlet things and print them out to spread the word, we need to get the word about Ron Paul to those without the internet. If you dont want to stand there and hand em out, go on night missions and post them up on walls in your town. Do some graffiti with a ron paul message, people need to just see his name. Honestly people, we are going to need to DW (Do work ) to get him in office, he needs each and every one of our help. Spreading the word to family and friends is the only way to gather enough strength to beat down these punks.

http://www.cafepress.com/RonPaul_2008

Also go there and order some t-shirts and stickers, they are seriously one of the best ways to spread the word without saying a word. Be a Ron Paul walking billboard. Seriously some of these shirts are funny as fuck, alot of good ideas check them out.

were those last two posts directed at me for commenting on that article or are you just posting these to get out the word?

I love this tread for one very specific reason! It is showing that people care. One way or another, people are angry about something and educating themselves about whatever position they want to prove. If we can have more of that on other topics then perhaps things can change... health care, environment, trade, human rights, AIDS, etc.

Now, to address the forum... Would someone please mention that Paul is not a 21 Century Republican but closer to, but not completely, a Rockefeller Republican (one who is more in line w/ the policies of Nelson Rockefeller and Henry Ford).

And while not all of us will agree with his opinion on Abortion or Gay marriage, he has stated publically that he believes that it is an issue of the State governments and not the Federal.

Additionally, for those who said they would not vote for him because they do not think that he could either win the nomination or the presidency... he can't win in you don't vote for him. However, those who do say that have a point. Go to:

http://pollingreport.com/wh08rep.htm

(if you have beef with various polls, than here is over a dozen from different sources)

i dont follow politics much but the only candidate that i have heard of supporting legalization is mike gravel but he probably wont make it into office. i know ron paul was on the cover of high times a while ago but i dunno what his stance is now.

that is well said. Ron Paul is not going to become president, but those of you who can vote for him, do it. Getting his message spread is the best thing we can do.

quite frankly, no, that is not enough for me. See, I could have sworn that I said to provide some reasons for the Republican party to nominate him OTHER than the fact that he is a true conservative. But lo and behold, there it was before you got two sentences out. Concerning his refusal to accept pensions: that is very admirable of him but it does not make him worthy to be president. The same goes for his stance on congressional pay raise. All the republican candidates are against tax increases. So he has run for president before, you say? And how did that turn out for him? At least this time around, though he may not know what to do, he knows what not to do. And you're right, he is an isolationist.

Perhaps I should rephrase. What, in the eyes of the Republican base, makes Ron Paul more qualified than any other Republican candidate? So I'm not asking why you think he is qualified, I'm asking why Republicans would think he is qualified.

they wont have a fuckin choice if he is the most popular. the gop would much rather have RP as there nominee even if they dont agree with him then put a lesser candidate like obama or even thompson against hilary or obama. if you dont see that RP is the best candidate you are a lost cause. the gop will not nominate him because of his views, they are neocons he is a paleocon. he is probably there last choice so the only way he can win is if has overwhelming support and wins the New Hampshire primary , where he already has alot of support.

Lets put it this way. If the presidential election is between Obama and RP then this country will be on the right track.

Thank god, we agree on something. I honestly think that is what its going to come down to. Ron Paul is going to have a huge main story about him in the New York Times this sunday, you cannot ignore his popularity, hes in the mainstream media now thanks to everyones hard work . Really Famous people are starting to donate to RP's campaign. RP is going to wreck shit.

Hmm, that's a good point. I hadn't considered that the Republican party would nominate Obama to run against Obama.

So I'm a lost cause if I don't see how Ron Paul is the best candidate for Republican nomination? Paul has a backing of 2% from registered republicans, according to CNN. Perhaps a better description would be to say that I am realistic and that you are not. So "the only way he can win is if he has overwhelming support," you say. I would say 2% is just a hair below the borderline of overwhelming support.

i meant giulani and thompson. also cmon, you take a cnn poll seriously? all the MSM polls are bogus. obama and romney are creations of the media. RP has the fastest growing campaign. im very realistic. he is doing amazing in NH and that is what matters the most. any poll that has RP under 8% is bullshit and bogus and should not be taken seriously.

exactly. Whenever you see any poll and RP wins it, you guys complain that the poll is biased and then you see a poll where he loses but you dont think that poll is biased?? hahahah wake up my friend.

so since MSM polls and everything we see on the news is 'bogus' and falsified in order to give an advantage to those candidates you clearly don't like, where do YOU find the correct numbers? Clearly, they're out there somewhere because you've found them, so enlighten us, since you know, where can we find 'the truth'?

I remember a couple months back in an MSNBC poll (maybe it was an ABC poll, whatever) where Ron Paul was winning, so they took him off the poll completely. The media definitely doesn't want Ron Paul to win. Fuck Rupert Murdoch.

in case you weren't going to catch it, this was rhetorical and rather sarcastic at that.

For the good of the candidate that you're supporting, you need to both (concept and eleven) realize that hating on everybody else and disregarding any opinion beyond your own does nothing but put a bad face on Ron Paul. You are here to publicize your candidate and to get the word out, which is excellent, but neither of you have shown even the slightest characteristic of rationalism or tact. If you really want to be a positive force in the world of Ron Paul, learn some tact, stop being so rude to those who you're trying to persuade, and realize that the status quo of your campaigning for him so far has done nothing but shed negative light on an otherwise very great candidate. Ron Paul has great ideals, a great record, and a good chance of changing people's minds. Your negativity on this site (and I'm assuming on others that you've done this type of Ron Paul promoting) is simply connecting a great candidate's campaign to the negativity that you project.

i didint say everything you see on the news is bogus you dumbass. the polls are bullshit, the media is owned by people who have alot to lose if Ron Paul wins. he has a very large base but the media will not tell you this. if you want proof open your eyes and look around.

it does if you are open minded. i am trying to show people that obama is not as good as he seems with facts and people dont like it.

you missed the basis of that post then - the way your 'showing people the truth' is taking any positive light away from the information you're sharing. All I'm saying is that if you want to have any positive effect on Ron Paul's campaign, you'll realize that being a dick to people isn't helping.

Why is anyone on this site taking Eleven and conceptkid seriously? Haha they're so fucking ridiculous with all their conspiracy, media-is-out-to-get-them, illogical, warped political views that cannot use the right form of the word, "their". But hey why read my post because according to both of these jackasses, I'm influenced by the media and "need to wake up." Haha, you both make a good pair of hairy testicles.

Ron Paul may have a good chance at the run for presidency. Will he achieve it? I doubt it. He does carry good ideals though that I agree with. Sounds bad but you do need to be strongly associated with your political party to be considered a serious threat. Saying you're a conservative with bi-partisan ideals isn't the strongest campaign.

is this your way of saying we should take you seriously?

you should just take the time to listen to the points of view of other people who have backed their claims with credible sources. take what they say with a grain of salt... but more importantly we need to take main stream media with a grain of salt.

now, please state your point in trying to discredit a thread by its authors yet, still want to promote ron paul's ideals (and slam his campaign stratagy). If you read the recent article in the New York Times on Sunday you would have found a very important quote.

Think about that quote for me and try to tell us that this thread is rediculous.

- his pro-choice stance is ridiculous. i don't think people casually drive 120 in school zones, i don't think people casually commit murder, i don't think people casually embezzle money. i'm sure they all have reasons for doing said things, but that doesn't mean we should allow them to do it.

- his gay marriage stance doesn't show "his conviction for his faith," it shows that he's a smart enough politician to try to win swing-votes by sitting on the fence.

For the pro-choice thing, why should YOU have any say in what other people do to their bodies? I'm pro-life but I can't imagine myself forcing that decision on other people.

And for the marriage thing, why is it so hard to believe that somebody actually believes in something and isn't just tooling around with politics? I can't think of any reason that somebody couldn't say "hey, I'm part of this religion that doesn't believe in gay marriage but that doesn't mean everybody can't be equal."

Ron Paul will never get elected. Voting America does not have enough faith in the economy to elect a a guy with a liberatarian sort of mind.

Either way, I think hes a smart guy with lots of really good Ideas.

But it will never work in 2008... not with all the other candidates...

thank you, this further stresses my disapproval of his beliefs. i simply cannot vote for someone who is so adamantly pro-life and against stem cell research. i don't want to get into this argument, but i am very pro-choice and i support stem cell research fully.

those are the only two things I'm not big on with him - I may, as I said, be pro-life, but I wouldn't force others on that. And stem cell research is just a no-brainer to me, using adult stem cells and placenta, though.

just look at this:

http://ontheissues.org/Barack_Obama.htm

this is what our country needs, someone who is progressive and knows where the future is. women do have the right the choose, and stem cells hold the potential to save and better millions of ill people. someone like ron paul will just bring us back in time and we'll be where we started with poorly done illegal abortions (that can easily result in a woman's death) and back to the drawing board for discovering cures for serious illnesses like Parkinson's. i'm sorry, Eleven, but i cannot vote for ron paul.

while i do sincerely appreciate your point of view (because i share the same) i feel that our nation needs something more than a moral debate to decide the presidency. the first thing our nation needs to do is get back on track economically and with our domestic and foreign policies. I would hate to have my right to choose an abortion or not taken away from me or to have stem cell research halted even more. However, I would also hate to not be able to afford regular medical treatments because of medical and insurance costs. I would also be seriously worried if i could not afford to buy a house because the housing market falls even farther. I would be horrified if our foreign policy continues as it is to where we have no more allies and become an image of violence and hypocracy to the rest of the world.

Moral issues have never really had a place in the political arena anyway, but if i would rather be subject to them than actual political issues. my morals will stay the same, regardless of the presidents.

(if it does help, ron paul has said that although he is pro life, he believes that it is an issue of the state governments, not the federal)
