Romance is the best ski film of all time

watched it last night, definitely the best level 1 film imo. I've got other personal favorites due to nostalgia but for kids who are just getting into freeskiing now this movie is gonna be hard to beat

loved the Oh Sees track in Thayne's segment, been listening to that album all summer
 
It's an amazing film but "best ski film of all time" may be a bit overdramatic and a stretch.

Look, when we talk about "time", time passes. Warren Miller did not have fancy digital camera's and fancy gimbals.

Skiers gear evolved too. Time changes things.

That said, some really old stuff still hold out to the test of time. Maybe because of the shitty technology of the past from skis to cameras, some old stuff may be better than today's. The old day skiers had balls just as big as any today, and maybe bigger because the food was not so filled with junk and hormones as it is today.

I saw the premiere at UVM in burly vt but theu were only sent the first hour so it stopped out of nowhere. I was super pumped on it regardless. Any idea how much longer the film is??

It’s a personal opinion. I thought romance was good but it’s not my all time favorite.

I personally like the movie lsm in Russia but most people haven’t seen them and lsm deleted them which I’m still sick abt.
 
Y'all sleeping on this! Romance was sick as fuck and I don't know why we aren't going more in depth with trick spoilers, favorite moments, etc

Wallisch with some impressive street clips!

Thought they made cliche Japan segment look tasteful, classic ski porn

P-white and chris logan segment was fucked up!!

Loved will wesson segment, listened to podcast where he explains non-usage of winches/bungees this year, so dope he deserves more appreciation, classic style

Everybody who had both street/backcountry parts gets a gold star, even though sometimes I think "little tyke rail kid" (ie sami ortleib) footage looks wack, super impressive to log shots in both arenas

mccrae/colby stevenson shared part was insane, x games tricks in the bc something you do not see everyday

Appreciated unedited rap music in keegan's part, solid urban

Time-lapse part was very sick, kept movie spicy

Kc Deane/Wiley part was epic, even though that song was from Volcom's Psychic Migrations I ain't mad because it fit well, not as well as the original but hey

LSM part had some bangers, pretty lax for a closer though

Level 1 does it proper and in an age of TGR, Warren Miller corporate BULLSHIT, they managed to put out a PROPER ski film with a great balance of filming, skiing, and authenticity. I haven't bought a level 1 movie in a couple years but this one WENT.

Maybe don't go to the bars this weekend, weed store, sell some shit, work the corner, or any number of things and buy this movie!!
 
Sat down and watched this last night. Fuck was it good. I thought LSM was dope in his part,Wesson had some nice shots. I personally like Parker white and Chris Logan's segment the most.
