Rolling up ski pants

Why do a lot of park skiers roll their pants halfway up their boots and cuff it with the elastic band on the snow guard? Looks pretty dope but is there any actual reason to do that besides aesthetics?

So you don’t get your pant leg stuck in your binding. Useful if you hike features a lot, or lap a place with a gondola. I don’t think it looks good and stopped doing it. Maybe also to access buckles a bit easier if you are always adjusting/opening for lifts or walking.

Most people roll them like that to prevent their pants from getting shredded up during their walk across the parking lot. It also just keeps the pants out of the way in general until you're ready to put on your ski boots. I've skied with them cuffed plenty of times as well because I just forget to undo it.

Rude - r u mad cause you roll your pant legs?

hes mad because the todd who stole his chick rocks his ski pants cuffed

i rock mine cuffed a lot because my ski boots suck and I need to undo the buckles on the lift sometimes.

My pants are pretty fucked and get in the way when putting on my bindings sometimes. Also if you have neon pink boots, you gotta own that shit and show em off to the peoples.

my pivots have completely destroyed by pants, and now they got holes all over em that continue to fuck me up. i hate the look of the whole boot showing but i think its probably efficient

If you ever see me like that with my ski boots on let me know. I am proud of my bright green boots but I like to pull my pant legs down all the way to keep the snow out. Truth is I don't want to drag my ski pants around on floor in the gas station bathroom etc. so I always roll them up when I don't have my ski boots on. More than once I've noticed that I was just cruising around the hill with them still rolled up or just one rolled up which is another unintentional style.

Is that why you roll your pants all the way down to the boot heel

Yea boss. I take my pants in when I get my bindings mounted to make sure the din's correct for when I stomp in and the pants get caught. #kingsburysteezeforlife

Most of the answers above make enough sense to me, but in my experience I roll up my pant legs in order to keep my boots at the same cold so they stay stiff. I'm in a 110 flex but should probably be in 130. By keeping the boots cold they stay stiffer which, I don't know about other people, but I can feel the difference.

If I'm hot lapping park I do it because it gets caught in my binding, and also really trying to snap my legs together on landings shreds the insides of my pant leg against my buckles. I uncuff if I'm filming or not in the park.

i roll em up to make sure they dont get messed up walking to the lifts. Then depending on my mood/vibe of the first run i might totally forget and keep shredding with like that. Eventually ill roll them down through. Its more of a function than for looks thing for me.

I do it just so I dont ruin my already ruined pants, but usually max out the roll around my ankle, dig the look but kinda dont lime when the roll is super fat, tryna go baggy with it and say fuck the pants this season.

my pant cuffs are shredded, roll them up so theres not pieces of my pants flapping around. as well as bindings like everyones said.

man one time I was in line on a pow day and I had my pants rolled up still, I like to fully buckle up and uncuff at the top of the chair before my first run. a couple of dads got into line behind me and started snickering, but I didn't do anything because I know how to mind my fucking business. anyway as I pushed forward to get in front of the chair one of them said "at least I'm not gonna get snow in my boots" and I was like what the hell. so I did up my shit as fast as I could when I got off the chair and followed those clowns down the hill and did a wicked slash when I passed them I bet they felt pretty dumb

yo, I'm reactivating this thread because I'm looking to rock that rolled up look but currently I have a pair of saga anomie bibs which aren't fitted enough and look rly weird when I cuff them at my boot. any recommendations for a good quality affordable pair of bibs that is fitted enough to look good cuffed. Thanks

Step 1: pull up on pant leg

step 2: step into binding

step 3: repeat

step 4: ride away

I'm surprised this look has stuck around, I know there are functional reasons for it but every time I see someone rocking this while skiing I think they look like they are from an LTC edit circa 2012

Personally :

- Style

- Pants messing with the open buckles or the bindings while touring

- I undo my buckles everytime I reach the lift because It's mandatory with race shoes

I think it looks stupid. I roll mine up walking to and from the parking lot, but won't ski with it rolled up. I did it a few times when I thought it was cool and it looked stupid.

literally... I dont see why pants getting caught in the binding is such an issue. Just pull ur pants up when ur clipping in.

Big into rolled up pants. My edges cut the bottoms when I step on my heel piece to pop out. I like my pants like I like my fruit... rolled up

your boots actually move around in the binding while you're skiing, especially with pivots. so your pants can work their way in there while you ski, it can be annoying

I just rock comp jock style pants that aren't crazy long so they don't touch my bindings, I lose some style points bu whatever lol

I’ve been cuffing mine at the ankle when they’re new in order to prolong the life of the pants. This way, once that inside layer gets shredded, you uncuff them and have a perfectly intact pant at your ankles. Functions the same both and prolongs their life.

Because their silly pants are too long because they are sliding down past their asses!

Nothing a sweet Onesie couldn't fix!

But hey, it's totally dope!

basically its edges of the skis that do the dirty work, then the brakes somehow manage to plunder them fresh gashes and rip and tear and so on..
