Rollerblading

Yo, so I'm looking to start aggressive skating this summer, and basically I was just wondering how hard it is to adjust from skiing into skating? I can hit rails and shit on skis, but I have horrible balance, will it be hard for me to skate and be good at it? Any advice = +K

I do both and honestly its not even close, completely different balance sets, and even tricks arent really similar. It definitely improves your balance and abilities which undoubtedly will help your skiing, but the two do not directly correspond in my opinion. I also skateboard which i find to be much more similar to skiing in overall movements and the way you shred. if you do get skates get some valos, i would reccomend tv2s i think is what theyre called now. skates dont matter tremendously but valo is the best.

I've been rollerblading for like 8 or 9 years, started that way before skiing park. The two are slightly similar, but I guess the relationship between skiing and skating varies with people. It's fun, and you don't need to skate just because it might make you a better skier, skate to skate, not to learn new aspects of skiing. I'm not saying you won't though, because you will.

And for skates, obviously everyone would recommend something they have or have used, see if you can try some on and see what you like.

Check aggressivemall.com, rollerwarehouse.com, and rollernews.com for more Rollerblade related stuff.

I'm always amused when people say this, because it's so much different. I just don't see how skateboarding can in any way emulate skiing. The biomechanics, just are not there.

do you even do either? better yet can you do either well?

if more than just me say that there must lie some bit of valid info in there

get over the obvious your standing sideways not forwards and theyre very similar, youre an idiot, not to mention probably 13 years old so arguing this is pointless

It will help you learn to land centered cause if you land back or frontseat you eat shit. On rails, it might help your balance, but a lot of the tricks that use the soul plate wont really help you with skiing much. I have the razor aragon 2's and love them. Some of my friends rock xsjado's, but I dont know if I would recommend valo over them. Valo's are a very old design with skins on them.

Well my friend who is an fucking amazing rollerblader came skiing for the first time with me, he backflipped, rodeod and 270'd onto a handrail. Basicly made me feel like shit, so to say it doesnt help with skiing is a lie. I still dont know how that happened like it was rediculous

dude, I've been rollerblading since 1995... probably before you even knew what rollerblading was! Cut the childish insult game and back up your claim that skateboarding and skiing are similar.

I've tried most of those and in my opinion USD's felt the best and easiest to skate, xsjados just didnt feel natural to me even though most people think that they are and remz look sick but they felt really unstable but thats just me.

It definitely helps with landings, because in rollerblading you really have to land well balanced, not like in skiing where you can be backseat and everything. And I don't think its too similiar, but my brother and I will session our pvc rail for hours only doing "ski" grinds (sideways/frontside) with switch-ups and pretzels and that shit can be real fun if you're a skier. And just flowing around parks in general is great.
