rodoes and flatspins

ive been skiing since last year and got hooked right away to the new school thing. i can do 360 grabs and thats about it. i would love to step it up and try a rodeo or a flatspin but i dont know how to start the rotation. i cant really tell them apart either. any help would be awesome!

you might wanna try a misty frist. they are a little easier than a rodeo or flat spin. you could also check out the trick section on this website. its pretty good. just click on spins or flips, they both'll be in there.

you should try rodeo, flat spin and misty on a diving board and see which one is easier for you, then bring it to the moutain.

You should start by knowing that a rodeo and a flatspin and a dinner roll are the same trick. Then you should start throwing stuff off a local diving board. Call it what you want, but know that they're all THE SAME. Peace...

dinner role is more of a barrel roll to spin. I agree that flatspins and rodeos are the same thing though. Maybe I am biased because I hate Johnny Posley and he 'invented' the dinner role. And then proceded to do it in like every comp. until the trick just got super lame.

 
flatspins and rodeos are NOT the same thing.

look at a flatspin 360, it´s a backflip parallell to the ground while a rodeo is a sideflip/offaxis-backflip with a twist. flat 7 and rodeo 7( if you flip to your right and spin to your left) can look pretty similar.

is there different names for the two different ways of doing a rodeo( flip to left spin left and flip right spin left)?

You should be able to do more than a 360 before attempiting a rodeo or flatspin.

you should probably learn to just front and back flips comftorably first before you go out trying mistys and rodeos and shit

 
Flat spins and rodeos are the same thing.

A flatspin 360 isnt at all a flatspin. On a flatspin 540 + is pretty much flipping forward while rolling under either shoulder, while a flat 360 is distictly a backwards motion.

I am pretty sure a flatspin 360 could not be landed on a regular table. You have to land about 45 (or more) degrees from where you took off. I cant explain it, but just look at tanner and turpins nice flatspin 360s in scandalous, or ski movie 2, there is no way they would be able to do that trick and land exactly in the same posistion they took off.

but oh well.

a rodeo is a sideflip with a 360, both performed at the same time.

they can loo pretty similar sometimes thoguh but it´s not the same thing!!!!!

I dont think we will ever agree, but I am still standing to my ground and saying they are the exact same thing.

On both tricks you lean forward and roll over onto your back...

 
Hey Ppl, i've been skiing for like 5 years, and just last year i started to hit jumps, at the end of the year last year, i got some twin tips, and i can ski very well backwards. I really wana be able to hot 180s and 360s, but i'm not sure what to do, like about over rotating, and stuff like that, any help would be greatly appreciated,

a flatspin and a rodeo aren't the same thing but they're thrown in a similar way. a rodeo is completely inverted and a flatspin isn't.
check our andrea hatveit's blog for trick tips on this. he starts with a backflip and slowly leans to the right taking off each time which eventually becomes a rodeo. so a rodeo is sort of like throwing a backflip while leaning to the right and spinning to the left, all at the same time. a flatspin is more about throwing the right shoulder forward rather than flipping backwards. its hard to describe without looking at a video at the same time.
PS: a flatspin 3 is very rarely a true flatspin. its almost always on the rodeo axis rather than the flatspin axis...dont ask me to explain why though.
