Rodeos?

Alright so iv'e been thinking about trying a rodeo 5 for the past 2 weeks now but I have been pussying out SO bad. So I told myself im trying it this friday. But of course yesterday my friend went skiing, tried a rodeo 5 and afterbanged his head right off the lip resulting in a concussion. Now i'm mad scared to try this shit. Any Advice?

do a lot of backflips before you try it and make sure you have a good feel for the jump, also make sure your body knows the rotation on tramps first or just give'er too that sometimes works but not for your friend obviously. if you are feelin it and you can see yourself going for it then you won't bitch out just visualize.

BACKFLIPS? u crazy? lol well i can do backys on tramps but what i heard is that rodeos are way easier then backys. maybe its a mental thing...but thanks for advice bros

Yeah backs are easier man, as long as you pop and commit. Just dont panic off the lip on the rodeo 5. Throw it like a lincoln not a backflip.

I guess as long as you know how to throw one, make sure you commit the whole way through, and as said, make sure you def get enough speed for it.

my trouble is spotting the landing, i was trying them last week and i could get the rotation, but i had no idea where i was in the air and i would just kinda get lucky and land right. anyone got tips for spotting the landing?

ha i've tried throwing rodeo's before but i can't. I huck a dspin 7 everytime. Can't throw it right I guess. But dude just throw on a helmet and sack up.

yeah backflip is 30 times easier than a rodeo. all you do for a backflip is just huck yourself backwards a few times and then for a rodeo you just pop drop the right shoulder forward and kinda roll over on your back. if you can see it do it but if you cant then just keep doign backflips they are a crowd pleaser and are easier than a 360.

just go for it, like you were to go for an lincoln loop or something like that. try it some times, and you'll have it. Worked for me yesterday.

alright, heres the deal. Ima try and land this shit and afterbang it. If i die, i die lol ++vibes to me =/ but seriously i got a pass last year and was slaying till i broke my ankle halfway through the season and now i suck...so i gotta do something to break though this slump. Thanks for the helpsss

well i just learned rodeos this season, and i actually did my first one on accident. I was trying mistys off a little 15 foot jump and on one of them i guess i threw it like a rodeo, and all my friends told me it was a rodeo. So what i would recommend learning first is mistys, and then just go for the rodeo. Rodeos are in my opinion the easiest off axis/ inverted trick to do other than frontflips

and to everybody telling him to learn backflips first, this is probably going to help you, but I didnt learn backflips first, I actually learned how to backflip like two or three runs after I did my first rodeo. But you should try whatever would seem the most comfortable for you, for example when i first wanted to learn off axis tricks, i was told that corks were the easiest, but i ended up trying flats because they seemed easier to me. so basically just do what seems most natural to you.

i would say that backflips are easier, but wouldnt really help you except for getting used to being upside down in the air.. its a very different rotation.. if you spin left, just drop your right shoulder (slightly forward), grab japan and roll over it.

now you have me all confused. if you drop your right shoulder and turn left wouldn't that thrown you into misty??? for rodeo don't you have to drop left shoulder and turn left? or am I just being a noob? But thats how I see it in my head lol

what a backflip will do is make you really comfortable with the jump and how it kicks you and how much time you will have to bring your rodeo around, plus they are the most fun trick ever, everybody should learn backflips!

dropping your left shoulder and spinnging left would make you do a misty. because you are doing a front-flip witha rotation.. if you drop your right shoulder, you kinda flip over it backwards giving you a rodeo.. sorry for confusing you. but honestly this post probably didnt help either.. you need to watch a video i would say

lol i was trying to cork last year but EVERY time i landed on my side, i couldn't get back around...i don't know if it will be the same for the rodeo...

that was a sick rodeo! lol this thread helped alot lol I was always thinking that underflips were more like rodeos kind or something lol but this cleared it up, didn't realize that mistys and rodeos were that close

ha thanks dawg yeah they are pretty close if you look at them but i think they are way different when you toss them because misty you punch down to your left leg with right hand and rodeo you kinda throw that right shoulder forward and roll over on your back.

try it off a decent sized jump so your not rushed in your rotation, don't think to hard be confident and just set the initial rotation and it will come around. go for it you'll be happy you did, rodeos are so much fun you can spot your landing all day. good luck

just pick out a tree or something on the side of the jump that you spin and try to kick it with your outside leg. just keep your head in too. it was scary before i tried it but when you get the first try out of the way it is soooo easy

im still trying to get rodeos on lock. i can do them pretty easily on

small jumps but im not comfortable with them on bigger jumps yet. check

out the first clip in this edit. its me landing a sketchy one and

catching an edge pretty badly as i revert.
=channel_page&fmt=18

i just basically think of doing a backflip, but i also look slightly to the

left wen i throw it and i use my right arm to wind up and help throw it. so its sort of more like a backflip 180

damn that was sick, it was kinda like a flat 3 to 180 dont really see that which is real cool
but to all you other kids wanting to try misties and rodeos and corks the ASK TURPIN cult is perfect for you, chris turpin a pro skier has made this cult in order to teach you kids how to properly learn new tricks without hurting yourselves...i highly recommend it being one of turpins students in the past.

my guess is you're doing it wrong, you have to look over your shoulder, and you can spot for most of the trick. that or you're doing it on a small jump and hucking the shit out of it.

ill put some help here, backflips dont really get you ready, though they help with airsense and how much time you have to get it around. make sure you start with a wide athletic stance. im just going to give the example like i do it, spinning left and flipping over your right shoulder. make sure you are familiar with the jump and know the speed and pop of it well, dont be afraid to try it on a more medium size jump (35-50) as then you wont have to huck as hard and you have a better feel for what you're doing on the rotation. having a poppy jump will help with this trick. approach the jump with good speed, so you'll make it past the knuckle and to a comfortable spot in the landing. get low and pop off your right edges. now when you pop off your edges (make sure you get the pop first and are not just hucking, thats how his friend hit his head on the lip) look back over you left shoulder, while leaning toward the right, and pointing your hips up in the direction your looking. the more you turn the more you'll rotate. by the tine your body is up you should be able to spot, hold the position and bring it around, stomp. you learned a rodeo. you may or may not have the rotation the first time, but you should get to your feet and be able to tweak the flip and rotation to get you nicely to 5 within a few more attempts.

holy shit i just same back from trying one and i almost got it!!! my buddy said it looked more like a flatspin

what i do is just throw it like a lincoln, and open my shoulders up like 90 degrees to the left when i pop off, sets your rotation pretty perfect

tip for that,, means your throwing back more like bckflip instead start your linkon then go into the spin just trying to help you out bro. This is a good way of thinking of how to do it with body motion. Fuck the girl (thats the linkon part) and as you start to spin punch the midget haha hope it helps yo
