Rodeo 540 help/video review

So I attempted a rodeo 540 about 10 times the other day and I was getting pretty close but I still feel like I’m setting it a bit incorrectly for a few reasons. 1) I didn’t land it. 2) it feels very difficult to pop the way that I set it. 3) it felt very awkward and difficult to reach for a grab which I feel should help me out. This jump wasn’t huge I know. A friend of mine through it on here and landed it clean so before I took it to a bigger jump I decided just to get a feel for it saying this is the first time I’ve ever attempted it. Part of me feels I need to set it more like a spin and drop my left should back instead of thinking of it as a flip. Here are my attempts.

Did not mean to post the same video twice. Here is the first attempt.

I think because the jump is low altitude, you're setting your rotation more flippy because you need to rotate faster, try it on a bigger jump or maybe a poppy side hit if possible

dude, you're 90 degrees away from landing it. you think JF Cusson landed his very first rodeo or something? he probably had to do it like 5+ times before he stuck it, and he's one of the greats of the sport.

Just need more air time, pop and set are solid.

extra pop and a little shin pressure never hurts on that trick either.

if you pop you control the trick, if you don't the trick controls you.

I feel this 100 percent, and the pop just didnt feel right when I was doing it. Which is why I couldn’t confidently go for the grab I feel idk.

I tried it a lot of times. I’m gonna get after it next time tho, I think I need to set a little more spin and less flip so I don’t throw my head back as much. Might help me get a more solid pop.

good set, good pop. just need more time in the air to bring it around and spot that landing/set for it vs. a chuck and tuck flip. Looks good though so far.

yeah, bud, you know what you're doing. if you're coming up 90 degrees short, then you need to set the horizontal rotation a little harder. if you're not getting around to your feet enough, then you need to set the flip a little harder. you'll get it.

post it to this thread when you land it perfectly. i want to see.

Will do!

guess you just needed poles.

first video you were fine on set, but you kept your head looking down the hill as opposed to looking at your landing, which stopped your rotation.

dude! you got it! hell yes.

that was sick.

add a mute grab or critical grab now. keep posting your progress. i'm stoked!

Normally i'd write a block of how to do it but:

you literally have done the trick right.

All that was missing being a bit more patient on the take off and pop harder , im not sure if its the jump or the video angle but it seemed like you a straight downfall curve rather then going up at the beginning.

Nothing to change there other then to pop more actively be a bit more patient on take off and more or less , take it to a bit bigger jump if you have any around :) !

way to go yungin

grab safety or japan and you've got it. I've thrown rodeos off TINY stuff and had no problem landing them. A bigger jump would help but its definitely not necessary.

Landed it in the clip farther down the thread!

more patience, look at the landing before you set the trick and extend you legs fully on take off to get the pop
