Rockering my skis Help: Need a Heat Gun

I'm trying to rocker my SF Bacons soon, and have the necessary requirements except for the heat gun. Does anybody have one that they could lend me? CHECK MY KARMA BROS IM LEGIT! Jk but seriously. It would take maybe 2 or 3 days, and I would return it. Having rockered Bacons would be dope as hell, but not worth buying an oxy-acetylene torch. I think anything over the capacity of a hair dryer would work
 
oxy acetaline torch= Bad idea, I've rockered some skis before and they de laminated like crazy I used a heat gun from my dads work, I did it over two days. you probably know something I didn't at the time. I personally wouldn't do it on my only pow skis just in case. good luck bradah.
 
yeah im a little skeptical about how well that will work in terms of durability but let us know how it turns out if you try it
 
buy one from walmart or the home depot and just return it a few days later. they both have amazing return policies...
 
^haha good point. no the SFBs are my backup skis, but could be my main ones if the rocker works out. i've got 179 bents right now, just too big to huck on bc booters. ill let yall know how it goes, i found a good heat gun and plan on starting this or next week.
 
Heat can be used to soften the ski, however skis are made with epoxy

wich is a thermoset meaning that it can not be simply re-heated and

remolded. All that heat does is increase the chance for creep in the

composite wich will seriously weaken the ski, and it will not cause it

to permantly take on a new shape, but just make it more flexible.

Secondly you are very likely to damage the base material in the

process.
 
waste of money? i got the skis beat to shit for $100 last season, and didn't ride them too much after i got the bents. and thanks, i know what skis are made of and need to be careful - i wasn't going to just torch them. i'm excited to see if it'll work, because they would be the perfect ski with just a bit of rockerin the tip and tail. i might mount them a little more forward too, close to center.
