Rockered Skis

So the whole rockered ski idea is dope, no doubt. But i can't say im signed on to the concept. Huge rockers may be nice in powder, but pow days don't happen terribly often for most people and when the snow isn't falling... where do the skis come into play. It seems like using stiffer fat skis such as the Katana makes a little more sense. That is, unless you are seth morrison and get the chance to ski big mountain powder runs everyday.

Hate to tell you this, but you're about a year too late on this thread... it's been discussed about 20 million times now.

I ski hellbents, and they are very very solid crus skis as well. I ski them any time there is more than 4 inches, and they are great.

demo some on a soft day, doesn't have to be an epic pow day, and you might understand

yeah i just dont know what to expect with them. You make them sound sick, but watching the patrollers at snowbird trying to ski the groomers with pontoons can only make you laugh. They look lost. Guess i will have to demo a pair to really find out.

haha pontoons are a different stroy. I don't think I would ever buy a pair of those.

well sir... hellbents arent the only rockered ski out there.

read my review of the moment rockers.... I do believe you will agree, theyre neet and great.

Thats because they cant ski for shit. I have demoed pontoons and taken them on groomers, and while its obvious that there are better skis for that type of riding, it was not hard AT ALL. Everyone makes such a big deal about how "fat skis are powder only you can't do ANYTHING else with them, take em on a groomer and you die" These people don't know how to ski. If all you ride is groomers then there is no NEED to get fat rockered skis, that would be overkill. But if youre bored at your local hill and wanna try something new and just have fun, then go for it. I bought a pair of moment melees for when I go on my yearly trip to a real mountain, but I take them out to my local minnesotan ski hills alot actually and I still have a blast on them and keep in mind this is in the midwest. If youre a good skier, you can easily adapt to the rocker and width on those types of skis even on groomers. I'd say it didnt even take me one full run down a groomer with my melees to figure them out and they still shred groomers. Check out my review on em...

Just don't listen to other people when they talk like they know everything about them and youre stupid for wanting to try them on something other than powder. Tell them to suck MY DICK and go ride em, I guarentee you will have fun...

I have three pairs of skis and I would say I have two days on my karmas, 3 on my gotamas, and the rest on my hell bents. I do a lot of back country skiing, but they definately hold up on the front side. In fact, every day I put on my other skis I wish I was on the bents. You gotta just get out and try them, you won't be sorry. They are ridiculous for nose rides, you can really freak people out with how far over you can get. Wheelies too. I like to goof around. Like the other guy said, there are definately better choices for cruising groomers all day, but who does that?
