Thats because they cant ski for shit. I have demoed pontoons and taken them on groomers, and while its obvious that there are better skis for that type of riding, it was not hard AT ALL. Everyone makes such a big deal about how "fat skis are powder only you can't do ANYTHING else with them, take em on a groomer and you die" These people don't know how to ski. If all you ride is groomers then there is no NEED to get fat rockered skis, that would be overkill. But if youre bored at your local hill and wanna try something new and just have fun, then go for it. I bought a pair of moment melees for when I go on my yearly trip to a real mountain, but I take them out to my local minnesotan ski hills alot actually and I still have a blast on them and keep in mind this is in the midwest. If youre a good skier, you can easily adapt to the rocker and width on those types of skis even on groomers. I'd say it didnt even take me one full run down a groomer with my melees to figure them out and they still shred groomers. Check out my review on em...
Just don't listen to other people when they talk like they know everything about them and youre stupid for wanting to try them on something other than powder. Tell them to suck MY DICK and go ride em, I guarentee you will have fun...
