Rockered Park Skis,Reno Rockers

I'm thinking about getting next years Reno Rockers, but I'm a little drawn back from the rockered aspect of the ski. I guess I can see how it would be fun for butters, but I'm worried about how its going to preform on the groomers and ice. I thought rockered skis were only for skiing in powder.

What do you think of rockerd skis in the park?

I've had the invaders for the past 2 years and love them. but they continue to make them in size 178cm. I'm 6'5, 190 and they are just getting to short I feel the reno rockers extra length (181cm) and width (117-90-117) will fit me better and match the flexibility of my invaders, plus they are both symmetrical.

I live in ohio and ski 90 percent park and sometimes get out to NY, UT, CO.

Also if i did decide to buy the reno rockers when abouts would i need to order them (pre-order) since they are so hard to get.

im gonna say at 6'5'' 190 you need something bigger than 181 and alot stiffer than an invader.

I have a pair of 188 jp vs. juliens and I just can't see myself being able to throw that long of a ski around in the park even tho im 6'5. I Would be interested in a 182 or 183 Tahoe if they made it in that size....im just trying to find a longer ski thats around 90mm underfoot thats comparable to the invader, just a fun ski to play around with.

what do you think if i got a 180 tahoe and rode it in the park ...comments? how flexible is the tahoe.

im not afraid to get a long ski.... i ride 188cm jj's and love em....im just saying i ski 90 percent park and i think thats a little long for the park.

my 178 invaders are way to short for me. i just want a long park specific ski. i thought the reno rockers would be good for me since they are longer ...i guess not long enough?

so what your saying is i should get 188 tahoes or something like it and ski 90 percent of the year in the park.

i think its a little silly how some people expect us tall people to have ridiculously long skis, like i was told i should rock the 84 range and i'm only 6'2... I dont want anything over a 78, I am on 69's which I feel are too short, but i grew over the summer, and until i can afford to buy new skis it's not the worst thing in the world to have skis a little short, besides, i think a ski at your nose, is about the height you want, sorry for a little bit of a rant, but that's something i have wanted the chance to say

its personal preference dude..

Im 5'9" 135 and would not ski anything shorter than 179/180 and have 191s on the way.It all has to do with what your skiing, how you ski, and what you want to do.

very true, i'm not saying that you have to ski a specific height of ski, but i just dont like that most people want me to ski a ski size i dont want to just due to my height but if huge skis work for you thats sick, i wish they worked for me, cuz my sizes sell quick

I'm 6'2 215 lbs and I ski 186 blends as my park ski. They're centermounted and 90 underfoot. I love them I would recomend those for your park ski.

yea, i never really thought about those...thanks. Next years blends are wider 132-100-122. So im thinking about getting those in 186 assuming they didnty change the lengths with the new molds and center mount those suckers....hows the flex on the blends?

comments?

im pretty sure that blends are super stiff... my friend rides a couple of years agos and they are really stiff but then that also could be good with your height and stuff... preference... but u said u wanted something flexwise like ur invaders which unless they changed them wouldnt

Next years will be nasty. I used to have some invaders. With your size they would be perfect flex. Next years are softer than the normal chronics.

i think a rockerd park ski would be the shit butters, less tip/tail catch, stuff outside the park, pow

plus moment is the shit

the rocker are a soft ski that will ski shorter then the normal reno jib in 181.

I woudlnt comapre moments to any other brand as far as the easyness of throwing the skis around since they are soo light and basically no swingweigth at all.

ummm the armada ARVs might be good in the park for someone your size...they come in 185 and have a 95 underfoot and unless they're changing them next year u'll be able to butter them around pretty well too...as for rocker i really want some!!...but i dont know if i want to just by a pair as my only ski for the year...but the reno rockers look sooo hype!

pm neon_sneakers, he has them, and rides them at whiteface (east coast). He likes them a lot, and the rocker is noticeable when you put them together, but not really big. It's more like a mini-rocker sort of deal. Yeah pm him with questions, he'll give you some answers.

I have been in contact with moment trying to convince them to make a park ski (reno jib maybe?) in a longer length. I am 6'2" and I am sick of centermounting 181 park skis and having them feel tiny, especially with a 29.5 boot. Word from moment is that it is coming, so we will see. If they follow through, that will be my park ski for next year.

What I sent to moment:

Hey,

I posted in a moment thread recently about possibly pressing a larger

jib. Maybe now is not the time, but I can garuntee you in a few years

there will be 186-188 symmetrical park skis coming out.

The new generation of men is bigger, taller guys with longer feet.

I am 16 years old and 6'2", and almost everyone I know and ski with is

at least 5'10". WHen your six feet tall and your in 29.5 boots a 181

park ski feels tiny when centermounted. Not only do they barely reach

the top of my nose, the center mount makes the tips feel ridiculously

small.

Basically, I just wanted to let you know that pressing the rockers

or jibs in a 186-188 might be a really good idea. I would instantly buy

a pair.

Thanks,

James

What I got back:

We are already planning on it because of our taller riders like Josh Bibby and Andy McDowell. We will keep you updated.

Thanks,

Luke

do you think they will be out in time for next years line, if they decide to make em in larger length

i think iif moment made a reno jib and rocker in 186 that can be center mounted...it will make it a one of a kind ski. that many people will be looking for, since its so hard to find a park specific ski that long.

MOMENT DO IT

ya im 5 11 and im on the 184 urban punx and they're sooo hype! my faavorite ski ive ever been on in the park no doubt! they also come in a 192 if u want something longgg

there not guna perform on groomers but they are a dope ski. There an unreal park ski, i got to demo a pair and the second u throw on an edge down off the lip then it just sends u

haha same here dude...i am also 16 and 6'2" and have a 29.5 boot...and all the kids i ride with are 6'....some sweet shit

next years moments are all sick but i definitely agree with the 186-188 jib or rocker size. that would be tight...but what about that red ski in the gear preview section? i think its called the freebird or something? anyone know anything about that?

1. ditto on the 6'2" status

2. the reno freebirds are the 09 version of the regular renos. basically an all mountain ski that was originally designed for the park. If i remember right they are a little stiffer this year and have more sidecut than any of the other moment line
