Rockered is played

rockered wasn't originally meant for park, it was meant for keeping the tips and tails up in the powder (depending on if you're going switch or not).

Of course, they have started to make rockered park skis. They are awesome for nose butters but I would think that the pop is terrible, because the camber is the exact opposite of what you would want for pop. The ski isn't helping you jump at all, you have to use only your mad hops to get the huge lift off the lip. With camber, the ski flexes downwards and can push up with you, rather than you having to just jump with the skis on.

Nevertheless, a pair of reno jibs (which I hear are rockered) and the hellbents would be amazing to have.

yeah but once the pep and adny edit form PC came out everyone and there mom tryed to rocker there old skis. Yes for pow I can see how it would be great but for the park I dont see it being all that great/hype

why do you kids keep thinking this is something new?

volant did it years ago with the spatula and people gave them shit. now all of a sudden it's the coolest thing. just like arials

holy shit. all this time i thought rockered skis were innovative and creative. i had NO idea they were in fact played. thank you so much for opening my eyes.

Yeah, but the spatulas were one of the least versatile skis on the planet. With the reverse camber they had the completely reverse side cut, and rather than just having rocker in the tips and tails the completely reverse camber ski made riding on anything other than power extremely difficult. There was only like 6 inches of contact point with the snow directly under foot. With new rockered skis their's like 3 feet of contact under foot, thus making turning on crud/ice possible. But the idea has been around forever.... but it's just not hitting the younger park crowd thanks to Pep and Andy.

Its cool, let kids ruin some park skis (i would hope to god they would use old ones) or buy some 600 dollar skis that will probably make them worse at park, they'll learn there lesson.

i somewhat agree, its really fucking overrated right now, and lots of people are saying its amazing when they havent even tried it. i mean, i'd give it a try

that is an ignorant statement.... rockered skis is a ski design, progressing how skiers ski the mountain.... saing what you said is like saying that sidecut is played

ya, from now on you can't do anything longer then 6 months, or else its played. comon wtf is wrong with people. rockered skiing is just getting started.

I am so pumped to try rockered skis in pow. as for park... i'm gonna let you guys duke it out on that one.

bahaha i totally forgot about that, yeah heath didnt you win some arg's or something? if you dont want them because you bash them so much and you "cant do shit on them so let all the fucktards ruin them" i'll be one of those and you should give them to me because you cant support the movement and you wouldnt ever use them

skiing must be played to cuz everyone does that right?

ns is full of poeple who care more about being cooler than everyone and hating on others and what they like than the actuall sport there doing. i think that should stop.

OKAY I WAS JUST JOKING AROUND JUST LIKE ALL THE NO POLES THREADS GOING ON. SOME PEOPLE CAUGHT ON SOME DIDNT. BUT PLEASE STOP SENDING ME PM'S CALLING ME AN "ASSHOLE" OR "FAGGOT" AND SO ON

They are rockered powder skis. Big difference from rockered park skis.

I'm not going to bash on them without first trying, but rockered park skis seem counterproductive in theory.

yeah bibby seems to be the only person ive seen who can rock them in the park, they look fun for butters and shit but i really doubt its fun slipping out of you land backseat

Oh yes, they were. I meant they made the ski for him, based off his design. He wanted that ski made, he was on their team, they made the design at his request, and sold them commercially. Then they had a falling out and all of that shit...he bought the lot, or what was left after the re-buy....sold 'em all off. All of that shit.

those skis do serve a purpose they are 90mm under foot making it still able to handle powder well

Alright, i feel like a noob jackass for askin this but everyones been talkin about rockered skis and i dont know exactly what it means, whats the change in the ski?

you know how the tips and tails of your skis touch but not the center, well reverse camber, or rockered, is where the center touches but the tips and tails do not, i hope that helps

I think a lot of you guys would be surprised if you rode a pair of rockered skis. Landing on them is fine. Ya you can wash out a little easier but if you're washing out on them you would not have had a good landing anyways. No you don't get pop out of the ski unless you make your ollies/nollies exagerated (which looks sick and isn't that hard since you don't need that much pressure to do it). Nose/tail presses are ridiculous on them, they look and feel sick as hell. Butters are obviously brought to a new level while riding rockered skis and manuals are easy, fun and don't kill your shins.

In powder I've heard that the reaction time of the skis is hard to compensate for when landing cliffs and I've also heard skis with 0 camber have pretty much the same floatation.

That being said I've never riden rockered skis in powder, this is just things I've heard from ski testers
