Rocker in skis vs no rocker? thoughts??

Im wondering whats everyone's thought with all the new rocker technology going into all the skis?

do you like rocker more then traditional camber and skis without some type of rocker!

or do you like skis with rocker in them?

any thoughts
 
The answer to this question is going to be completely divided by region. I ski in the PNW, therefore rocker is king. Icecoasters probably disagree.
 
i ski east coast hard pack snow and ice! i like traditional camber just as much as rocker not really a big difference to me
 
Don't like rocker unless I'm riding pow or its on a well designed ski. Volkl is the only company that I have been pleased with having rocker. Had no luck with K2 at all. All the K2 skis became squirly as shit at around 25 to 30mph and that was running the longest length they sell. Volkl skis on the other hand did not get squirly at high speed but lacked pop of traditional camber.

This is coming from someone on the ice coast.
 
Rocker makes skiing easier. I like it in my skis and I have tip and tail rocker. Im an east coast all mountain skier. Bumps, woods, on trail and some park. But, I don't like a ski with too much rocker. It depends on the conditions.

A ski that's rockered like crazy is great in the bumps and pow and trees but I like my Volkl kinks because it still has a decent amount of camber underfoot. But an all camber ski is nice in the park, they have two different feels. Depends on the conditions really but I find myself only skiing my kinks and I skiied my blends once , from two years ago so no rocker full camber and said fuck this lol.
 
Rockered skis are great in powder but I could really only use a rockered park ski if it was like 185-190. I love having longer camber skis though. so much more stability.
 
No rocker in the park, way easier, but for just cruising and skiing all mountain early rise for sure
 
yeah that my point of view! i like having a traditional cambered ski in the park because there awesome on rails and really stable on jumps! but for just cruising around the mountain and hitting the woods, that's were i like the rockered skis...
 
personally i prefer traditional camber. had a pair k2 domains and they were super fun, incredibly playful on rails and such but just not versatile. on days when wearing those i didnt wanna throw down anything big jump wise just because the fact that they were like a noodle made it hard to stomp tricks. now have coreupt yards and armada thalls both of which are traditional camber and love it. super stable.
 
Depends on what ya do, I don't ski park at all, other than race skis everything I ski regularly is over 100 underfoot and rockered tip and tail.

The bridges I tour with are a fully cambered ski and have a lot of power, they ski well. My Praxis Powboards are fully rockered and kill it in soft snow.
 
i have the domains right now and that's what i think!! there really noodley and i don't like them for jumps! there a great ski for rails thou! i'm buying this years t-halls in February and i'm stoked to ride them.. there good for jumps and great for jibs and rails! and the butter zones are pretty nice like tanner wanted them!
 
Sorry, I didn't elaborate enough on that. I just feel that they're easier to bring tricks around, grab, and so forth. Maybe a little bit more likely to catch noses and tails w/out the early rise but you get a lot more pop, snap, and stability.
 
so your saying that traditional camber is much easier in the park? that its much more stable? and rocker does give you a better chance of not catching an edge on switch up and spins... but i don't think it makes much of a difference! my first skis were the ar7s and they were perfect for everything and i'm on the domains right now and i liked the ar7s more! i dont even notice a difference of catching a edge! but i do notice that my old ar7s had so much more pop then the domains! that's why i am buying the t-halls soon
 
I like rocker a lot more, but I am much more picky choosing a rockered ski then a cambered. Rockered skis need to be stiff. But anyways, I like rocker for everyday park. Its easier to switch up, swivle on landings, and more. so they don't catch. Also when i buy rockered skis i can go up in length making grabs easier. But really you have to treat a rockered ski differently.
 
see i like traditional camber more then rockered because its more stable and has more pop... but i do like rocker because theres less of a chance of you catching an edge on switch ups but its not a huge difference to traditional camber... i barley ever caught an edge on switch ups or spins
 
I've always thought the k2 team series were pretty squirrely. There are some fun, poppy skis with rocker that handle hard snow well, they generally just have a combination of rocker and camber.
 
well I have had two experiences on one pair of skis. As OP already knows I have some Bluehouse antics that are dying and at the beginning of the season I have never seen more camber in a ski. a month in and they are completely flat with tip/tail rocker. They are amazing now. I can butter more and they are more flexible. I can get over a little more chop and they are still fairly lively skis even with the destruction of them. When they were full on camber, I could do urban rails from flat that were a 2-3 feet off the ground and they helped you center on rails more because the rail was guided to your foot. They were also waaaay better on bigger jumps and I am not sure how but I could get grabs with them more when they had camber and now I cant. its weird and probably doesnt have to do with the skis.I love them to death though, and in the end I have killed them because of it, but I am goin to say that in the end I think I prefer the the semi-broken in camber for better switch-ups and still be awesome on jumps.
 
yeah i know that rocker helps a lot when on rails and doing switch up and spins onto rails but is it really a huge difference or not a big difference at all? that's the question i want does it make a huge difference
 
well with my skis it is very very noticable, especially since I had two experience with the same ski in the same season. I think that you will like camber for everyting overall compared to rocker unless its just like the lline chronics or something
 
yeah i think your right... i never see kids complain about them catching a tip or tail on a switch up or catching an edge because of the camber! i honestly don't think it makes a huge difference, enless someone can explain to me how it makes such a huge difference
