Rocker Conspiracy

Not sure if this has been posted here, but my friend recently told me about the 'rocker conspiracy theory'.The idea is that ski companies put rockers on skis to slow people down on the slopes and cause less accidents, since a rocker will slow you down on piste. This, I thought, was a decent idea, considering all U.S. resorts are on private land (I think they are, I could be wrong?)Either way, what's your ideas?

well rocker isnt meant for groomed trails and using them on a hard packed snow could cause more accidents becuase you cant turn as sharply. this "conspiracy" is bs

Just because the ski is rockered does not mean it isn't meant for all mountain.

This is a huge misconception that just because a ski is 105 under waist, its impossible to ride anywhere else other than pow. Take a wide ski in the park, or on some groomers, I think you will be very very surprised at how much fun you will have.

As per the OP's conspiracy.... LOL.

^ That's a good point. One local hill I go to is on a Conservation Area (Park), and another hill I frequent is Privately owned by an elderly couple.

so let me get this straight. Your friend thinks that a technology that is only meant for powder, makes people come flying out of powder onto groomers super fast, and gives you about 50% of the control of normal camber, is meant for safety? Ima go ahead and disagree.

People go just as fast on piste with big ol' cambered or rockered skis, the difference is that the guys with cambered skis have much more edge to turn with and ski in control.

Hasn't slowed me down. I've only become a better skier since I got rockered skis.

Not specifically because of the skis themselves of course.

You guys are crazy, theres no way the government would pay for a program like that. We did get a nice bonus from the US Forest Service and Department of Land Management last year though, cant wait to see how much we get this year.

the people i know who ski on rockered skis are generally speaking the fastest, gnarliest, most way out of line skiers on the entire mountain ....
so unless ski companies want to fuel their madness in an idle hope of thinning out this "newschoolers" population by "natural causes" in an attempt to "secure" the slopes, i think they're doing not so well of a job ....

Woah woah woah, chill down guys..I wasn't saying I full on believed it etc. I said it made sense, either way - stop the hate

if they are on national forest land then the land is leased/rented.

but that a wierd theory never heard that before
