Rock music is dead.

Who believes that, I definitely do. Look at what we have right now, any rock bands that are anything close to the way rock use to be are getting really old. Rolling stones, acdc, aerosmith are all good examples.

I wish we could go back to the days where rock was still very much alive. Aerosmith's old music was great, sweet emotion, was a classic. Then you have tom petty, jimi hendrix, zeppelin, black sabbath, eric clapton, I don't know much about rock so I don't know a lot of the bands names, and i'm drawing a blank right now. But take a look at where rock is now, six feet underground, now we have this offspring of it, punk rock(not dissing it), alternative, and heavymetal(dissing it for sure), the sound is so unnatural and it will never come back, i don't know one rock band out now that is doing what they were doing in the 60's, and 70's, why can't we have that kind of music now, we can only listen to the classics, imagine what it must of been like when people first heard stairway to heaven on the radio, or layla, or sweet emotions, they would all shit bricks.

Unlike any music besides country right now, rock is the only type of music to get deep in meaning with their songs, they talk about a lot of lifes troubles and they do it like no other type of music, they put everything they have into it and after listening to an emotional song, you can almost feel the way that artist felt.

The Rock our parents knew and grew up to is what I would like to still hear, music was a religion then, now it's a business that any crackhead or heroin addict can just begin now. The only rock band to come close since then is Nirvana, but that was the last of the rock bands, now we have a shitload of shit playing on the radio and not one real rock band, rock is officially dead, but lets pray it comes back.

I also wish i could go back to the 60s and the 70s just for all that great music. Now a days you got all of this dumb Punk Rock were the lead signer sounds like a girl. And all this heavy Metal were you cant understand them. That is why I basically stoped listening to all of the New Rock I now Listen to Ac/dc Led Zepplin and Alabama and bands like those guys but I see Godsmack sounding like old music. What is also got very annoying is all of the swearing in the music that is not music to me.

What about bands like the Strokes, Hives, stuff like that? They have a sound similar to a 70's rock band. I do agree though, rock isn't nearly as big as it used to be.

Country music also talks a lot about their problems. Look at Elvis, some of his songs are rock (albeit old), some are country and some are a mishmash

^those bands confuse me. the only one that maybe sounds like how everyone says they do is the strokes. the rest of them don't sound like the strokes. but yeah, THE MAN killed rock music.

I see you standing... you think your soooo cool... why dont u just, FUCK OFF- Guns n Roses

i agree, the music today is lame. i was listening to the radio last night, and some song came on and it was horrible!! it sounded like it was written by some love struck 6th grader. i mean the main chorus was basically 'now life sucks that im without you' what an exceptional use of words. ha ha no. lyrics should be the equivalence to poetry. they need meaning.

Live every day, like today is your last.

man, if you think that rock is dead, you obviously haven't been looking very hard for music. i'll give it to you that there isn't epic arena rock now, like there was in the 70s, but there certainly is a good rock revival going on. bands like interpol, the rapture, the dandy warhols, q and not u, the shins, broken social scene.... i could go on all afternoon, are making incredible music. just because this music hasn't been picked up by the general public, doesn't mean that rock is dead.

Exactly, Queens of the Stone Age, Audioslave, The Strokes...there is some life left, it just doesn't sell as much as rap so MTV won't play it as often...

^ bad examples of rock music bro. and I have never heard of the examples you named coz, but you have to admit that its fell off because even if those rock bands are as good as you say, media isn't around to talk about them, what rock the media does focus on, is exactly what brings the music to it's demise.

queens of the stone age, thats funny

it's out there, just incerdibly rare

And for America, there will be no going back to the era before September the 11th, 2001 — to false comfort in a dangerous world. We have learned that terrorist attacks are not caused by the use of strength; they are invited by the perception of weakness. And the surest way to avoid attacks on our own people is to engage the enemy where he lives and plans. We are fighting that enemy in Iraq and Afghanistan today so that we do not meet him again on our own streets, in our own cities. - George W. Bush

You haven't hear of Queens of the stone age?

they're Dave Grohls new band/side project...

If you don't know Dave, he was in Nirvana (I hope you know them) and Foo fighters...

Audioslave could be called the new Rage Against the Machine since they broke up and all but one member is in audioslave now. Chris Cornell from soundgarden is in Audioslave as well, both bands have all star lineups and kick ass!

he was talkking about coz's./...like the dandy warhols who fucking rock, awesome band... everyone come out to the northwest, there plenty of music out here. vendetta red, dandy warhols, new pornographers for more pop... but it say queens of the stoneage and audioslave are definitely good examples... chris cornell and whats left of rage sounds pretty good to me and queens of the stoneage have always been good... back to mia... then rated r... yeah, theres still good music.

Queens of the Stone Age of NOT Dave Grohl's Side Project, they've put out 3 albums and they just needed drummer for the new album, Dave Grohl isn't even in the band

uumm i dont think queens of the stone age is grohl's side project. He just signed them i think and is on a few songs.

And dont you EVER call Audioslave the new Rage! They are a watered down piece of shit now, and Tom Morello should be fucking ashamed of himself.

the music, the sounds, interpol, strokes, all rock that is good.queens of the stoen age are also good.

'Keep on rocking in the free world'

hell ya Clo goin for the CSNY.... distirbed is one of the reasons why rock is dying.. i mean how long can you listen to people scream and sing about death

fuck that shit pop some grateful dead in or get you hands on Live at Fillmore East with the allman brothers and listen to duane allman rip the slide guitar along with dicky betts.. then realized you have just listened to the best double CD collection ever.

I have never poured out beer, even to put out a grass fire-Hank Hill

foo fighters, juliana theory, interpol, dandy warhols, filter... rock comes in all sorts of form.. but people who rock hard and have meaning to their lyrics deserve credit and i give it to them.

I don't think rock is dead

cheerleader666 is good rock'n roll but not pure rock as ACDC or anithing like this

but just look to the concert that they are giving...

rock in RIo Iron Maiden...hum all the old rock bands tour that they made and it's full in all the arenas with the sickest atmosphere

rock isn,t dead because there is no poser bands that try to be rock'n roll like acdc and all that shit and that people believe they are like punk and all this shit...
