Rock climbing

Anyone else do it? I just did an outdoor climb for my first time today and it's sooooo much better than climbing in the gym. the feeling of accomplishment is great and it's a lot of fun and a great workout. basically what i'm trying to say is.... rock climbing = the shit.

yeah there might be 1 or 2 more newschoolers that climb. i think ive been climbing in a gym once. ive been outside houndreds of times

yeah, i don't see much point in going to the gym any more. it's expensive and not nearly as much fun. i'm definitely looking forward to climbing again next weekend.

yea man i climb quite a bit, im making plans to climb at smith rock when i go out to oregon later this week. welcome the second best sport ever created

rock climbing is the shit. and yes, climbing outdoors is way better than indoors. i'll take gym during school when all the crags around here are all wet, but the fun and satisfaction from climbing outdoors is so much better.

it's remarkable how easy and relatively cheap it is to get into rock climbing (well, sport climbing and bouldering, not so much trad), so its really easy to do it a lot in the summer, which is what i try to do.

as for the guy going to smith, its fucking sick. busy, and hot, but the routes are money. im eager to go to a lot of different places. top on my list (but far from happening) is going to kalymnos in greece.

actually ive found that there are a ton of NSers that climb... i climb as much as i can its a blast... i lead a 5-10... and othere than that there isnt much around here... and i free soloed a 5-9... i love climbing it occupies my time in the summer when im not climbing.... i like buldering on rock at the beach... cuz you fall into the water

thats what ive heard. my sister lives out there, and she climbs smith every week. the trips going to be sick. even gonna be at hood for a day. first snow in a long time for someone in the east. skiing and climbing = amazing regardless of the conditions

yup-i work at an indoor gym and i am gonna be climbing at smith rocks for the 1st time in a couple days-so stoked. I mostly climb indoors cause it rains a lot where im from. nice to see another climber/skier

I used to rock climb a lot more. My dad took me. But he's been injured for the last like 5 years and I haven't been in a really long time. sucks I really liked it

oh i forgot to say we have a fricken rock climbing wall in are garage it covers all the walls. my friends were stoked on it when i first showed it to them

rock climbing is sick. even just bouldering around on random rocks is awesome. ive done only 3 outdoor climbs this summer but when i get back home its pretty much all im doing along with hiking and camping until school starts back up. its really good for a dryland workout for skiing becuase it works all those random little stabilizer muscles that are hard to get at and that you use in skiing all the time. yay rock climbing!

I LOVE rock climbing. I went just tonight, actually. And I think I'm working in the gym in August, so I'm pumped for some free climbing everyday.

just got back from a trip to shelf road, CO. Incredible, 1000 bolted climbs....going to Rumney for the first time next weekend...anyone recommend some good routes there? (5.9 to 5.11c) somewhere in that ballpark?

i haven't gone climbing in soooo long, i've been so busy biking the past few summers that i just haven't had time for it. not to mention the fact that the indoor climbing gyms have become a major ripoff, i can't even afford to do both biking and climbing anymore.

I used to go quite a bit, but realized that I just can't afford it with skiing, mountain biking, and fly fishing.

I used to do outdoor climbing for a week every summer. We did different cliffs around CT from 30 to over 100 feet. You cant even compare outdoors to in a gym its just so different.

Went everyday last week...but it was rainy out so we had to go inside.

I have only gone outside three times....still wayyyyyy better then indoor...obviously

We have a class at our school solely dedicated to rock climbing, which I took in the spring. It is such a fun time and once you start getting good at it, it is a blast.

YAY. I didn't know there were this many other climbers on NS. I'm more of a bouldering guy, but sport routes are fun too. I haven't been able to climb in about half a year because of shoulder surgery, so I've just been the filming bitch for my friends. SO stoked to get back on the rock. And hell yeah, climbing outside is infinitely better than gym climbing. For one, real rock feels so much better. Two, it's free. And three, you're outside!

heck yeah dude. so much fun.

this thread combined with the fact that yesterday i was cliff jumping/climbing around on random stuff just has me stoked off the outdoors.
