Robert Frost

Has anyone here actually read him much? If so what do you think about his writing style. Just doing a 5 page report do tomorrow for english and I want some other opinions.

some say the world will end in fire

some say in ice

but what ve tasted of desire

i say the orld will end in fire

but ice would suffice...i dunno...always knew that since i was a kid

but seriously, hes got some good stuff

two roads diverage in a wood and I, I took the one less traveled by and that has made all the difference..............good stuff!

Frost is probably the single most misunderstood poet of the 20th century.

the path less travelled by is so misinterpreted that it makes me angry

It is. just another example of frost being horribly misinterpreted.

ill look up some stuff on it and post.

i figure its about an old man facing death. pretty much the same thing, giving up, seeing death as inviting, being tired. i feel it, i feel it.

It's ok don't be angry; bestow on us your wisdom so that we won't ever make you angry again, oh king interpreter.

haha go point, dietcoke or wahtever your name is, who are you to say he is misunderstood, unless you personaly talked to him about his own meaning and purpose for writing some of his poems, one of the biggests aspects of poetry is that each poem has its own meaning to certain people

this is what people think of when they think about the road not taken:

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference." Sounds like a proud cry for individuality, right?

they seem to forget the other parts of the poem though such as:

"I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence" and "TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both" Yeah, far different interpretation...

Isn't Robert Frost that fat guy with the annoying voice who shoots confetti all the time? The guy in the beginning of the Bloodhound Gang CD?

Remember Frost always begings in a vast natural environment. Then, he usually dwels on the loneyness of the world, nature and himself.

He's consider a modernist purely because of his position within the time frame that he was writing...and as such has been heavily anthologized as a modernist while still holding onto romantic tendencies and traditions.

for IB, i had to do a 10 minute reading and analysis of mending wall into a tape recording in a one on one setting with my teacher. Worst ten minutes of my life.
