Australia today were robbed of a place in the quater final of the biggest sporting event in the world. It was probably the most disgusting thing to watch ever as a fan of Australian sport. I am now refusing to eat Italian or Spanish ood unless i am about to throw up. I dont think I'll ever get over this.
 
well he did trip in the box and it was a legitimate call, not italy's fault. Im a soccer referee for little kids I myself and would've made the same call. It was horrible timing though.
 
eh niel shouldn't have gone down, but it shouldn't have been a PK....even the annoucers agree with that, for the most part

ive been a ref now for 3 years. A trip in the box is penalty kick automatically. It was a legitimate call. Fuck Australia they got what they deserved
 
yeah i played all my life and ref'ed kids as well.....its not an automatic pk if YOU trip over someone, he sold the shat out of it.....if you watch he purposefully trips on the guys stomach....
 
i havent seen the play at all. im just judging based on what i read... which was that he was tripped... if he fell over someone who legitimatly had no intention to trip without gaining the ball... then he might have a case.
 
niel went down (shouldn't have), ball went over or around him don't remember, and the striker jumped over him, but purposefully caught his foot on neils stomach, falling.....it was sold very well though i must admit....3 minutes added time....this happend at 2:51
 
it was cuz he got in the guys way you are not allowed to get infront of the guys like tha its had to explain its kindof like interferance
 
Uh lets see here, Did the Australian take the man down, or di the man run in to the Australian, plus he's a god damn italian player so hes gonna dive, cause they can't be a man and actually attempt to stay on his damn feet.
 
Hey, stop fucking hating. Clearly Italy would of probably put the ball in the net even if the Australian deffender did get teh penalty. Seriously it was Australia's fault that they lost, stop saying shit about Italy, go complain about Australia.
 
hahaha are you serious, first off I'm Canadian, the last thing on my mind would be the U.S, they can't match up to any euro teams. Second I'm Italian, Forza Azzuri!
 
uh did you see the angle he had....none....there was only a chance of a goal with a good run by someone else, he was on the goal line with the keep in good position. The call should have never been made....admited the neil should have never gone to the ground...but that still doesn't allow the ref to decide the game. I has been talked about alot, just like the US pk that shouldn't have been called in the last seconds of the half. You know something is up when reporters/coaches/players from EVERY country are sayin it was the incorrect call (US game)
 
the thing is, even if there wasn't actually a tackle, obstruction in the box by the last man has to be a penalty. Neil was the one who was in the wrong so the italian was clever to fall over him and claim a penalty
 
i thought it was bull call. The guy perposly tripped on Niel so he could fall and get a kick, if he actually tried to score like a real man, he wouldn't ran into him and clipped his leg on Niel

Obstruction is an indirect free kick, and there was another defender, it was not denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity. Again the Austraian did no play the man, he intended to get the ball but missed, then the Itlain ran into him. If it was obstruction its indirect kick at most
 
Sorry to break it to you aussies, but Italy won so stop bitching about it and start practicing for next year. And why would you ever boycott Italy, its such a nice place and the food is the shit. I'd have veal parmesian over kangaroo any day.
