I just watching High Society (AGAIN!) and thought the Robb Gaffney section was off the hook. That Misty he throws off the cliff is sick and he picks lines I thought un-skiable. What did you guys think, anyone know anything about him?(sponsors, home hill, etc.)

yea he pulls sweet flips off of cliffs/drops with style

I like palm trees.

I like to ski, but I hate the freakin' cold. Us indian people weren't built for the cold. Why can't ski hills have palm trees?

I just watched his segment in High Society and I didn't see him do a misty. Maybe you're thinking of Scott Gaffney.

 
There was a really good article about both of them in powder last year, I can't rember what month though, so if you can get that just look through old issues for the article 'Chemical Brothers'

Yeah Robb and Scott are both awesome skiers and really cool guys. Scott threw the misty. If you liked what you saw, you need to go buy 1999, Robb has an amazing segment in it. Robb now lives up the road from me in sacramento.

oh man, 1999 is my favorite ski movie. rob and scott gaffney are both so incredible in it (along with mcconkey, etc). ahh, whata classic movie...... im gonna go watch it now.

You know something that would really make me applaud? A guy gets stuck in quicksand, then sinks, then suddenly comes shooting out, riding on water skis. How do they do that?
 
I forgot to mention that one of MSPs movies for next year will have Robb Gaffney in it. It'll also have CR Johnson, Shane McConkey, Skogan Sprang, and JT Holmes.

 
and think robb is a doc. to work and have time to thorw sick tricks like that. most guys in the movies ski full time and he skis and works. amazing

the gaffney bros are so good....they deserve to be in way more movies...when i saw them in high society i was like...oh hey, the filmmakers have a section...this shouldnt be very good...but i was put in my place when they did misty 7/lincoln loops off of cliffs i would hesitate to drop!!! those guys rip!

 
Wait Scott was in that segment too? I thought Scott was only filming, and I never saw scott name pop up. YOu sure it was scott pulling the misty?

yeah...i think he did...he was the one in the pipe with the awesome gorbie outfit doing flairs on both walls then the worlds greatest alli-oop spread!!!! and he cracked his nose on something during that segment and had blood everywhere

 
That pipe run was awesome and the suit was hilarious. There was a lot of blood in his hair and neck of jacket. I think he smashed his head on one of the cliffs.

yup...bleading nose i think..might be something different....did you see the shot of rob trying to striaghtline the 2 foot wide chute and clipping the rocks near the end??? those guys are so fuckin sweet

 
Yeah, There was definatly not anyline thier but he skied it anyway! Bounced off that rock on his right and then ate it. Those guys are way underated!

the one jumping with tha baby is rob, the one doing insasane crazy sruffs off the cliff is scott. is name did show up, S.G. his is alias. just like we call CR CR, they call him SG, for scott gaffney.

I forgot about the baby part on the tramp. It was definatly real. I love love those guys skiing so much I should start a Gaffney Brothers Fan CLUB

It's not real with the baby. I don't remember where, but there's another place that shows him throwing the baby.

 
OK I got the word straight from the mouth of Robb himself, the baby part isn't real. Looks pretty real though I gotta admit. I don't know what mother would ever let her husband do that with their baby though.

Him and McConkey ski together at their home mountain of Squaw. You should check out the book that Robb wrote about that mountain "Squallywood". I just got it and it has some rediculous lines and other ski stories from all the legends of squaw like Scot schmidt and shane.

Hell yeah. I never saw this thread. Scott does all the sick stuff in that segment--he even wore Robb's clothes to stunt double for him. Wow. Five years old...
 
Robb - PhD in Psycology - practice is in the Bay (I believe) - brilliant skier and athlete -

Scott - new baby in september, off the hook skier, can out ski anyone here with a 50lb pack full of camera gear

hes a squaw local and a doctor. he gave up his skiing dreams a while ago to go to med school and have a family. if you want to see the whole squaw scene and alot of his skiing find the movie 1999. its still one of my favorite movies of all time
 
you can buy 1999 and walls of freedom at skimovie.com. You might like that is all lower 48 stuff too and none of that annoying ak stuff where the skier is this tiny little dot.
