I live in Montana, and a couple of friends and i are planning a road trip to Whistler in December, we were just trying to figure out where we should stay and stuff (oh yeah we're all pretty poor, and plan on spending most of our $ on passes)Any insight would be greatly apprieciated!

i'm gonna try and get down to big sky and whitefish this winter... but that has nothing to do with you or whistler... but they're both in montana...

maybe try the hostel, its kinda a ways from town though, maybe 20 min walk but its cheap book early though.

shoestring is the shit, cold beer and wine store plus the boot pub all in one place. cheapest place to stay, and can walk into the village at night if too trashed to drive- not far at all.
