like i said.. the abscence of scientific evidence doesn't disprove shit.. it only fails to prove it.

but science class or not.. these kinds of beleifs have been around forever.. something tells me that if we've gotten to where we are because of it it can't be that bad..

I think it's more like so the whole country can fight like angry siblings on internet forums all day, sit at home and listen to other peoples opinions on TV instead of actual news, then november rolls around everyone realizes it and proceeds to elect the cutest of the two candidates

I think all the democrats on here are just scared to admit that Palin just delivered...She just said what you guy's fear most..That is exactly the point the Republican party wanted to get across the board..I mean come on guys..You guys cant even diss on her speech, you guys dont have anything to say...So instead your talking about more general reasons why it was bad..for example "did you see the baby get spit on the head" or "look at all those cowboy hats"....Just admit that she just delivered...She tore out up Obama so bad I cant wait to see his reaction on O'Reilly tomorrow(now before you diss me, I really dont like O'Reilly, but im watching the interview...I think FOX should let Shaun Hannity do the interview ha)...

McCain FTW

^^^ i'm not going to quote everybody.. but it's a parents job to teach and filter what their kids learn in school.. by presenting both sides, you only reinforce whatever side that family decides is best for their kid. just because it may not be scientifically proven, does that not mean that it's something important to know?? obviously you guys know about it.. the point i'm trying to make is not to teach it as actual truth, but as another viewpoint that so many people in the world believe.. it only makes a person more aware of the world around them.

I commented on the girl spitting on the baby, because i thought it was hilarious haha.

and I'll admit she delivered.. just like Obama did, just like Clinton did, and just like Biden did..

all of them delivered in the way they had planned... and you cant really diss anyone for their speach, but rather disagree with their rhetoric...

when the left says "change" we take a shot....

when right says "experience" we take a shot....

sounds like it would end up being an interesting night, haha

whens the first debate? i would bet those 2 words come up more than once... lol

man drew, i know we have our differences but i laughed so hard when i read this! haha, at least we can still laugh and have a good time on here.

well, obviously the "terrorists" who are in Guantanamo weren't the ones on those planes...

and I believe those who the government is locking up in prison do deserve rights, if they are going to be tried on American soil under American law.

alright dude, make fun of me all you want.. i already said i'm not religous. all i know is i dont talk shit on peoples beleifs just because i dont agree or think it's incorrect.

i might think it's incorrect but a guy can think a fucking thermos is the reincarnation of god for all i care, as long as they're a decent person..

i dont agree with anybody who supports obama, but i'm not about to call them names or say things that put them down in a negative light like you're, "keep in mind these people beleive adam and eve rode dinosaurs" statement.. but i guess it's the internet, my interpertation is that a statement like that would only be made to put somebody down.

i dont care enough to go on anymore.. so whatever. vote mccain.

you honestly think that speech "delivered?" That speech had so many exaggerated claims and frustratingly obvious remarks to appeal to different social groups that I found it to be one of the least genuine speeches I've heard on McCain's campaign; blatant teleprompts aside. It merely was an attempt to make people feel better for their trust in McCain because he "supports" their social groups. Not to mention the hypocrisy in saying how they will deliver "the real change America needs" when they did not address a single problem in our country now. Talking shit about the other party is not impressive, no matter who is doing the party, and if you think that the talking shit is what stood out from Palin's speech I sure hope you are the

nobody is making fun of you, or putting down people's beliefs...

Believe what you want, but what it comes down to, is those people who drew's talking about (the dinasaur ridin' adam and eves) are those who are trying to instill their religious beliefs upon you, drew, and I who arent necessarily religious people as it is.

thats the song and story, the end.

You can't pick and choose who gets rights. EVERYONE gets them no matter what they did. The whole system would fall apart if you start to pick and choose who gets rights or not.

Just because I believe this, does not mean that I condone what terrorists do.

The humane thing to do is to follow these laws that are in place to protect and give alleged criminals or terrorists (or alleged terrorists) in this case a fair trial, and everything else that comes with being processed fairly. Just because you give someone the rights they deserve does not mean that they will get off scot free.

You can agree or disagree, but it comes down to basic human rights that everyone deserves. Take that away and the whole system goes to shit.

yeah, i did know that, thanks.....

if we are going to start pulling up positions held by candidates at another time, take it to another thread.. .

i also want to know why you thought the DNC was any less of a "shit show" than the RNC.... even drew agrees with me, they were / are , shit shows.... put on to do one thing, and one thing only..... rip into the other side.... thats what the left did, and thats what the right did...

if im not mistaken, you just quoted your self. i think the speech did get delivered and dam well i must say. you know why? its because i can connect with her, i can connect with McCain.

did you catch Palins choice of speech and choice of giving that speech? it looked like a small townhall meeting. she handled herself very well for millions of people watching, she stuck it to barrack (with humor, i might add) and she didnt have to talk about the issues, its not here presidency.

McCain will cover that tommorow.

sorry. i didnt see your triple post. people are posting so fast on here it things can get lost pretty quickly. so sorry again for telling you that you quoted yourself.

i really think that you and drew are misguided..

i may be totally wrong, but it appears to me that you've never been a part of a christain church for a long time.. i was a member of a baptist church when i lived in texas for 10 years (age 4-14) and even though it's not something i follow anymore, it's something i understand. i'm not going to say their aren't radicals who try to force religous views on people, but that's true in all religions..

i strongly believe that you shouldn't judge a book based on it's cover (lame saying i know but meh..) following stereotypes and common beliefs only makes that easier.

^ weird one of my paragraphs got deleted..

one more thing to add to what i said above, most people that preach christianity really only want to establish good values in people.. at least that's what most of mine were trying to do..

There you go, proving my point. This is the same reason why the speech was so terrible...somehow when you went "omgg i totally get what she's saying my dad owns a small business! Awesome I knew I was Republican for some reason." you failed to realize that politicians lie to get your vote, and the easiest way to get votes is by getting the people who have no idea what is going on to get on your side by "connecting" with them. From my perspective, i figured few people would fall for the tactics, but perhaps I'm wrong.

As with drew, I was part of a church for some time as well. I attended a catholic institution from the time i was 4, until I was 15 years of age. Then, i hit what I like to call "the age of reason" and got out of there.

I too know what the hell i'm talking about when it comes to religion, and people pushing it upon those who for the most part, frankly, dont give a rats ass.

I respect anyones beliefs, but I do not tell them they should "be agnostic!" or tell them "there is no god! and I have proof!"

Meanwhile, just about every religious institution that I've ever heard of, does some sort of recruiting, or missionary thing in order to get people to attend, and donate to their institution..

They do it in the catholic church, i'm sure they do it in the baptist denomination, muslim mosques do it for sure, same with jewish synagogues, Mormon Temples, scientoligist churches, and anything else you can think of.

I dont give a shit that they do this, but it makes me sick when people try to impose their religions on me, and call me a blasphemist, or tell me i'm going to hell if I dont...

I dont care if you pray in school, or believe in creation... just dont try to teach me that shit, when it directly pertains to a religion...

"I'd like to start a religion, Thats where the Money is!"

EVERYONE deserves rights. EVERYONE. Even the worst most despicable child-molesting murderer. It's what makes a country democratic, it's what allows there to be rule of law. You're a useless moron if you don't understand this. You have a right to a trial, because if you don't, the punishment is meaningless. In some peoples' cases, the trial is an easy one to win, but you still get your day in court, and do everything you can to prove yourself innocent. When you fail, it is because you deserve to fail, and when you are punished, it is because you deserve punishment. Imprisonment without trial is an AFFRONT to democracy and civilization no matter who is imprisoned. And it's not just because you could be next, if a government agency knocks on your door tomorrow and declares you a terrorist, and you have no one to say "No, I'm a US citizen" to. That's not why. It's because if the law doesn't apply to some people, it might as well apply to no one at all.

If you honestly believe that some people should have rights in your country and others shouldn't, you are a TERRIBLE excuse for an citizen and should be utterly ashamed of yourself.

I really, honestly am reeling from the fact that Romney actually put that into his speech, too. And this is someone who intended to be president. The second basic rights like that are denied to certain people and the government accepts it is the day you no longer have a country. The court, in "giving" Guantanamo detainees rights, isn't being liberal, it's being a legal institution. It could not be a court and say "these people have no rights". It would be definitionally impossible, because doing that would undermine the very concept of what law is. I cannot understand why any patriotic person could listen to that and fail to shake with anger at what a threat it represents to the most basic nature of his country. You would have to be so unbelievably ignorant to support a concept like that that it boggles the mind.

Thank you. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when I talk to people who don't get this. "Why should they get a trial? They killed American soldiers. Why should they have rights?" I'll let Thomas Jefferson speak for me, because I'm not very eloquent:

"An equal application of law to every condition of man is fundamental." --Thomas Jefferson to George Hay, 1807. ME 11:341

In the absence of scientific proof, most scientists agree that its a mystery they'll have to research and unravel instead of ascribing an all powerful deity as a cop out answer. Just because we currently do not fully understand a topic doesnt give credence to the "God must have done it" hypothesis. If god designed it, you should be able to prove it as much as evolution shows how nature has become the way it is.

And please, if you think you have something that conflicts or confounds our model of evolution, I'd love to hear it and respond. I've yet to see an argument that stands to it.

I watched a Biden interview this morning and he is genuinly concerned about debating her. I don't blame him.

Regardless of her individual quirks on some issues, in the grand scheme of things, I really like her.

She will make a great leader.

hey, I was the child of hired organist and choir director for several big eastern churches over 10 years. I have so much religion that I am.......... what? what do you think? hahahahah

anyone hear more laughs than they expected last night? the whole thing was full of zingers!! gulianni was a complete joke, ive never heard so many pauses for laughter, in palins speech as well. Romney was the only serious person there... seriously crazy! ZINGER!

Palin delivered the speech they wrote for her very well. She is certainly putting country first id say, answering her parties call to turn her into a walking talking hot looking wedge.

Yeah, glad to hear he's lowering expectations. At this point all she has to do is show up and not vomit all over herself and she'll have done better than expected. If Biden trounces her and everyone expects him to, it means next to nothing.

i cant believe you are going to sit here and feed me your lies, telling me that the "easiest way to get votes is by getting the people who have no idea what is going on to get on your side by with connecting with them" when Obama can do this better than any candidate.

obama is an entertainer and a dam good one at that. when all this political bullshit settles down and the rubber meets the road we will see who actually wins. i believe Obama is, in all actuality, a very nice, caring person. ive said that before and ill stick to that but he just is wrong IMO on several issues.

Im not republican because my dad owns a business. Im a republican because i side with more republican issues than i do Democrat issues.

i am not a republican because i grew up rich, i am a republican because

i was tired of being poor, and waiting for the government to save

me....

hukkabee

this basically sums it up... lol

except i am not poor (claim) average middle class FTW!

Papa, I generally agree with your posts and respect your opinion since you're one of the few people on this sight with some life experience on thier shoulders, but how will she be a great leader? She preaches abstinance but can't even keep her own daughters legs together. The only experience she has leading is 20 months as governor of a very unpopulated state and mayor of a town half the size of my own which is not very hard to deal with. The people run it more than the mayor does. She only rejected plans to build a federally funded (meaning it'd be payed for by tax payers of the entire country) $398 million bridge after receiving critisism for it. This bridge was to be build to a small island contained nothing more than 50 people and an airstrip. She takes pride in her beauty queen status and her husbands professional snowmobiling career and even cited both last night as points of strength for her candidacy. Finally, just because someone is a good speaker does not mean that she actually beleives in what she was speaking about. Her speach was written by the same guy who wrote much of the speaches that GW Bush "performed" in the 2000 elections. Again, just because someone is a great speaker does not mean that they will be a great leader. Look at Hitler for christ sakes. Well, actually, he was a great leader, just for all the wrong reasons.....

Oh, I almost forgot, she was in the PTA for her kid's school. That must give her the necessary experience for the job of being a hare's breadth from presidency, especially with someone as old as McCain.

dear lord, did you just make a case against obama?

"Again, just because someone is a great speaker does not mean that they will be a great leader. "

"just because someone is a good speaker does not mean that she actually beleives in what she was speaking about"

the parallels are frightening!!!1

He's right. Look at the dumbass we've managed to keep in office - great speaker (when he can talk good), but worthless politician.

last i checked, GW isnt running? a non issue?

again, we are dealing with "McCain, Palin," "Obama, Biden"

i love how everything you ever see is "O MY GOD, I HATE BUSH, MCCAIN IS JUST LIKE BUSH, OMG, I HATE BUSH"

is that all you got on the right?
