Riser Plates

Hey I know riser plates make a HUGE difference on the hard pack. But what I herd the other day was that in the pow they throw you off balance. I personally havn't ever felt this effect, but I wanted to ask around to see if there is any merrit to this statement I herd. Any personal experiences.

I can see how someone would say this. Powder skiing is an exercise in subtlety; Because of the added height, you need to make even less movement to the side than normal. Otherwise you end up slicing down through the snow rather than riding on top of it. Unless of course, you're making fast sweeping GS turns...

The added leverage of a riser is fundamentally lost in powder and it could be very frustrating toning down technique especially, if you are used to a lower binding height. This would lead to the comments you heard.

I can't see how they would screw you up in the air, and when landing, but maybe they would make rails more difficult.

well it sorta depends from plate to plate i guess, so long as you don't get one that doesn't interfere with the flex of your ski which would probably interfere with landing. but why would u need a plate in the park anyways? unless u ski all mountain i guess and boot out

I went to get my skis mounted today, i got the candides with the p12 lifters, i told the guy not to put the lifters, he said he would do it, but he was showing how there will be nothing between the ski and the binding, are u supposed to mount it right onto the ski? like nothing in between...? He said that their is going to be alot of vibration now when I ski... what do u guys think?

in the park you pretty much wanna get as close to the skis as possible, just yesterday a kid wanted his scratches mounted with the free120t-plate bindings and he wanted the plate taken out, to do this just measure the size of the riser and then shave the screw so you dont blow it out the base, i have had no problems in the past with vibration, and i like them without the riser much better

Better without the riser but you can always get used to a riser if you have one, not that big of a difference

ya i got my skis back without the riser on... should be sweet, then again the skis dont make the skier ya know

i have p11 lifters...they are closer to the ski than my old bindings, haha..but anyway...does anyone know the pivot bindings well? do the spacers have a smaller section between the ski and the bindings, or is there none at all?

I just got my candides back with the p12 lifters, but i told them not to put the lifters on, and there is nothing between the ski and the binding... thats why i was concerned about vibration while skiing
