Someone with a DVD player on their computer should rip happy dayz and get it on kazaa. I know this is 'bad' for the industry but I am still going to buy the dvd anyway.. but i'm in fucking the middle of nowhere, dump ass wolfville nova scotia, with no stores here... pwetty pwease with cherries on top? also strike three and in the haze please.

Fuck that. Its not ok to rip either snowboard films or ski films. Granted, i think the snowboard industry has alot more financial support going around for their production companies, but that in no way makes it ok to jack their films without paying for them.

For anyone that skis or snowboards, if you can afford to participate in the sport, whether you're on a brand new setup or old garage sale shit, and buying your lift tix or hiking, you should certainly be able to fork over 30 bucks for a movie if its something that you really want to watch. Otherwise take up sledding in your neighbors back yard and go suck a dick while your at it.

 
hmmm kill the industry? you people are dumb fuckers. yes almost all snowboard movies are found on the internet. the problem is, even the snowboard vids that sell the LEAST amount of copies sell 5 times more than the ski movie that sells the MOST. man you guys are stupid. sure maybe the film companies MIGHT loose a tiny bit of cash, but people that download the movies are people that aren't going to buy them anyway, but at least our sport is gonna be seen by more people, hence maybe convincing them that they should look into it more. plus people that would not normally be interested in buying it might watch the crappy version on the computer and then want to go buy it. you all think you are so smart and that you know everything about the industry. damn you fuckers are stupid. i bet you don't complain about downloading mp3s off the internet. if you are so rightous then maybe you should stop that and go buy every cd with every song on it that you want, or your precious musicians just might be out of a job!!! oh my god!! hahahah idiots

i didnt read the whole thread, but ill state my opinion anyways.

putting happydayz on kazaa would NOT kill the sport, not as long as we all kept skiing, that was a really dumb thing to say. having it on kazaa would progress the sport, people would much rather download it than pay the thirty bucks, and a lot of other people would run into the file on kazaa, opening a lot more eyes. get what im saying, wigros?

 
and how do you spose the companies are gonna get money to make another movie if nonbody's going to pay for it?

are the skiers going to ride for free? are the resorts going to put everybody up for free? are the shooters, producers, editors and runners going to work for free? is somebody gonna give them all the gear for free? are their travel expenses going to be free?

it cost's a boatload of money.

you get paid back by SELLING copies of what you busted your ass to make to people who will dig it!!

If you're not getting paid back, you go broke and STOP making movies.

internet delivery of movies is going to happen in the future. we all need to figure out how to make it happen and still let the creators get paid cause it all stops if nobodies getting paid. how the hell is that so hard to comprehend?

given, everyone defending the ski movies make really good points. But you forget about the assholes that don't give a damn about anyone but theirselves. Me included. People like me made programs like kazaa and napster possible. Maybe we learned this skill in 1st grade where we shared way too much. I don't have the extra cash to buy a new skiing dvd, but i would like to see what progression this sport has experienced from movie to movie. I doubt there is too many people that would object to a network tv station Playing all the best ski movies all night and all day without comercials. If we can share porn from those very hard working men and women, we can share the second best this to hit dvd since porn, ski movies.

Minimum 250,000 dollar fine and up to 20 years in prison. It is a federal offence.

 
alright heres the deal, i OWN happy dayz, so i dont care about ripping it, but thats not the point, like there is everything on the internet, and even if you download a movie i usually buy them if i like that, i just make sure i like it by watching it first, but i am for ripping vids because im not buying 10 ski videos every season, but by the way you can't track down the person who rips it, its just impossible because the governemt does not have the time or money to prosecute pirating, that is why there is so much on the internet and no one thinks twice about downloading (anything), but thats not the point here, its examining what the results would be, well lets put it this way, i would not buy a snowboard video but i do go to #snow-videos to download them and watch them, well what if we flip that around, do you think a snowboarder would buy a ski movie? , i don't think they would but i know for a fact that some would definately download them, so in that case they would also be exposed to the ski movies, but like the only result i could think of with ski movies on the net would be increased profits, like look at the music artists, the most of them have experienced profit growths, even metallica (assholes) gained like 3 million (not too sure about the exact figure) in sales after the release of napster , so i think that more movies would be bought if people got to see them first, i would buy movies anyways more if i saw them first because i know i wouldnt be taking a chance on my money then

anyways im not going to rip any movie, probaby because i only have happy days dvd so there is not much point, and even if i did have that capture stuff on my comp i probably wouldnt do it, i just don't see a problem with it
