What software do I need to rip directly from a DVD. I am talking about movies here.

mactheripper, just google search it, free and quality software. This rips the movie to your hard drive.
To burn it, find a torrent or something for Roxio Popcorn. Automatically compresses and burns the dvd for you. Super easy, one click, but requires you to find the program and a serial.
So yeah thats the break down. If you want to convert it into an mp4 file or similar you will required another program to do this.

i like handbrake for macs.....i think you can get it here: www.freemacware.com It also allows you to convert the ripped movie into almost any file type, so you can then put the videos on ur ipod of whatever else you want
