its easy for us to all say who cares now, but somewhere along the lines in some way this is going to affect us all, we tend to forget what trying times these are. our grandkids are going to ask us about this period of time

I can't wait until a US soldier gets tortured after he/she is captured. We'll see how fair the US really is then. Just because we are fighting a 'war on terror' doesn't mean we should be exempt from committing war crimes.

Hmmm its not goin ot happen to sumone i know becuz they arent randomly takin US citizens and torturing them.They are talking about war tactics to get prisoners to give information on plans and leaders of terrorist groups. I WANT THEM to get that info so if solitary confinment or lack of food or even other methods work DO IT. Secondly where were all of you when Sadam was torturing and killing his own ppl in torture rooms then KILLING them. Yet, those nations can hate us all that they want but in the end we are not just doing this for us, it is also for protecting them. Europe has been a terriorst cultivation nursrey, and Europe's negligence and lack of accountability when it comes to anti-terrorist opperations has endangered their home as well as ours. So don't pe placing Europe in a higher catigory then us, they are organized like a pigsty with a common currency.

And guess what its our evil dominering capitalism that makes sure that you arn't paying 4 dollars a gallon for gas over here. You don't know how well you have it here.

Also, if the US was for some reason or another cut trade ties with China you would see their economic advancment and technoligcal advancment grind to a halt. China is doing so well because american firms are pumping billions overtheir so that they can get cheap manufacturing and you can get all your cheap stuff for cheap. You think that if Mao was still ruling over China that they would be growing at the rate they are. And still, a large persentage of Chinesse workers are still working in agriculture so the rest can eat compared to our small amount in that field. China may be growing, but America is supporting the growth.

And I ask you this question, if America is so big and bad why don't you leave. Why do you stick around cohorting with evil.

torture has been happening for a long time, and believe it or not our army has done it many different times, so seeing it as such a big deal now doesnt make much sense, also what our soldiers did in vietnam was childs play compared to what is happening in iraq

What kind of a human being makes statements like that one? Honestly. That's awful. You're willing to torture someone to within an inch of his life, to the point where he's begging for death, because there's a POSSIBILITY that it'll help an American?!? These measures are extreme and obviously immoral... If torture that might save a life is ok, how about public decapitation to set an example, to make the impression that will discourage further executions? This is just another step down the road to completely destroying America's claim that they represent a moral authority. Suddenly, the U.S. doesn't look a whole lot better than these dictatorships, does it?

jd, what you are saying is true, however by that post, it seemed to convey the wrong message. I think i went a little to far. As sort of a self-rebuttle, i will say taht i took it to far. The way i was originally going with this was to sort of demonstrate how an American citizen can be so overlooked. The fact that all of this argument can commence over this, and not so much as a thread (i could be wrong, i say once again) is sort of outrageous. I agree with certain measuers in order to gain information, but the way i conveyed my opinion about the entire thing seemed a little outrageous. So in conclusion, i apologize for the words that i used in previous statement. This portrays my opinion much better.

pray tell freezed, what article of the constitution deliniates this fact? i am not saying that its a good idea, just that this hasnt got much to do with the constitution... international treaties perhaps, but not the constitution per se, nor any of the amendments thereof.
