RIP Kendall

that whole situation is infuriating....3 beers and just over the legal limit, GET YOUR ISH TOGETHER

why does the driver always live...

I guess the guilt of killing your innocent best friend is a more worthy punishment than death. A little time in the brig, a wider asshole and a guilty conscience should straighten his act up.

R.I.P.

So sad to hear about this kind of thing happening, the best of vibes to friends and family of Kendall. I'm sure he'll be missed terribly.

the kid was over 21, had 3 beers to drink and blew a .081.... .001 over the legal limit. this want someone who was clearly drunk, everyone needs to read the article and think about themselves driving as well, the kid driving definitely had something to drink, but it seems that the accident didn't come as a result of the drinking, rather as a result of losing control of a vehicle while driving, something that could happen to any of us at any point.

that being said, RIP.

Never knew him but from what I've read on this thread he was a great guy. RIP/SIP Kendall. Endless pillows with no tired legs in Heaven.

Very Sad, This really sucks because even though he was drinking he blew a .081 so it wasn't like he was 100% shitfaced. Kids should still be cautious even when your buddy's had only 3 beers but it makes me wonder if alcohol was the sole cause of this crash.

Fuck drunk drivers!! It sad to here that people cant be responsible for not only themselves but there friends too. I would totally buy some stickers for a fellow eastcoaster. Rest in peace brother

as a fellow crotched skier i agree with the sticker statement. although i never met him i always saw him out having a good time with friends on the hill. honestly one of the worst ways to pass away. RIP kendall crotched will miss a good kid like you

I can understand why many of you could be infuriated by the loss of a fellow freeskier in a drunk driving accident, However, in no defense of the driver's decision to get behind the wheel, with only having a BAC level of .081 the driver wasn't notably drunk....meaning his friends in the car may have not acknowledged the fact that he was drunk. Overall, it was an unfortunate accident and we should pray for his family and friends. No life should ever be taken this early and I am sure Kendall is shredding up in heaven and will be looking over all of us this upcoming winter and many to come. As for the sticker idea, I believe it would be a wonderful idea... whether money helps the family or goes to support the awareness of drunk driving or money isn't involved at all...seeing people shred with stickers made for Kendall would be a great way to support family, friends, and freeskiers; I know if I looked at the friend I was skiing with and saw that sticker on his helmet it would remind me to shred for Kendall and make the best decisions on and off the hill. If anyone has any cool sticker designs please feel free to share them here, thank you everyone for the support.

I worked with him as an instructor at crotched for multiple years and always stoked never heard him complain about conditions or a stupid set up in the park. He always had a smile on his face, even when teaching 4 year olds, he was just pumped to be on snow, he was a true inspiration and will greatly be missed. Rest in peace bud, save some gnar up there for the rest of us. 652479.jpeg

and that is him second from the right living life to the fullest at crotcheds card bord sled race a couple of years ago as a member of the jersey shore crew

Relaying this to anyone who knew him:

"Kendall's memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, August 21, at Crotched Mountain Ski Area and we are hoping to have it at 11am. I will repost this when I know for sure."

I got that off of our Crotched instructor group page on fb

The .081 won't hold up in court because it was on a mobile breathilizer, and it's sooo close to legal limit. Given if I'm not mistaken the article says he was only 19 so it doesn't matter period. But to me it sounds like more than the "3 beers" which was in reality probably 5 or more, driving 20mph over the speed limit had more to do with it. He will suffer plenty knowing he will never talk to or ski with his best friend again.

S.I.P

not to start an argument, but coordination and driver reaction time is definitely hindered even after one beer. number of beers is irrelevant to BAC. Clearly a case of a young kid thinking he can drive and now he just killed his best friend who, also a young that had poor judgement to get in the car. i feel really bad for the friends and family more since they were helpless in the whole matter.
