RIP J.D. Salinger

His daughter is going to sell the rights to Catcher in the Rye and I'm sure a movie will be made. Also, I hope they discover a lot of private works in his house.

RIP

had to read catcher in the rye last year in school, didnt think it would be good but it ended up being one of my favorite books

just started reading catcher in the rye, its aight. but now when i'm reading i'm gona think of ns, so it'll be good

I don't think a movie will ever be made for Catcher. Salinger made it very clear that he didn't want Hollywood messing with it. I could be wrong, but given previous legal action taken by Salinger, I think his family will respect his wishes.

RIP, regardless... one of the world's most talented writers.

THIS:We’re freaks, that’s all. Those two bastards got us nice and early andmade us into freaks with freakish standards, that’s all. We’re the tattooedlady, and we’re never going to have a minute’s peace, the rest of our lives, until everybody else is tattooed, too. - franny and zooey

RIP.

I really respect him as an author, he obviously can write, no doubt. But I just couldnt get into Catcher in the Rye. What i get from it is that the main character is very confused about what he wants in life and can't figure out what he is going to do in life. Someone please explain? Maybe in a PM because i really dont wanna disrespect a great author in his memory thread.

dude, Catcher in the Rye was a great book, my teacher said its rumored that he has literary works in his home waiting to be published upon his death, now they'll find out if that rumor is true or not!

noooooooooooo, how will i ever blame the mass genocide im going to commit on him and his writings if he isnt alive anymore?

seriously, my dick, it aint just gonna suck itself

nothing i said disrespected j.d. just the criminals who subjectively used his book in their criminal proceedings. assclown

the main theme is basically innocence of youth, eventually the protagonist realizes that growing up and seeing the world for what it is is inevitable...but not bad.
there are a ton of underlying symbols and themes though. it really is an amazing book, not really one of my favorites though.

I think a movie will be made and from what I read I doubt his family cares to continue all the secrecy. But if it is made into a movie I really hope that they get a talented cast and director for the movie

bumping this thread because i meant to post a while ago...apparently his daughter is going to release some of his works he's written, i guess he wanted her to wait until after he was dead.

this has to be one of my favorite catcher in the rye quotes:

“I'm sick of just liking people. I wish to God I could meet somebody I could respect.”
