RIP Firstbloods

so i bought 9thward first bloods and they were the sickest skis ever. Stiff as hell and very light and they ripped through everything like butter. 5 days later they broke for no apparent reason. They were mounted twice, but didn;t break on the existing holes, they snapped right behind the toe pieces which is the weirdest break point i have ever seen (and I have broken my fair share of skis) They also delamed from the break all the back past the heal piece, also weird. Anyway, i'm wondering if anybody knows the 9thward warranty policy. I was planning on taking picture and Emailing them with a description of what happened. These things were not beat and did not break due to park use.

any suggestions welcome, thanks

Such shitty quality. My Firstbloods have about 30 days on them, lots of edge cracks, have lost all their life in the core, and have lost the camber in the front.

I wouldn't buy from Ninthward again.

Thats the best pics i can get quick... you can see where the core snapped and where its Delamed

again, the break is not on the binding screw holes

Hmmm, mine have about 7 days on them and only minor topsheet chipping and they still feel solid as hell. Hope mine don't go.

your delam is due to the core snap...  and it would only snap behind the heel piece if you put it under extreme pressure, i.e. from a mad backseat landing.  your chance of warrenty is very very very small because it is not technically a manufactors defect.

i'm not saying the "just snapped"

but i am saying i skiied these all mountain and got to the bottom of a run to find they were broken for no apparent reason. So apparently 9thwards are of extremely poor quality

My friend (jaylib on ns) had basically the same thing happen to his. On second mount the skis just snapped. The good men at 9th are currently sending him a new pair of butterlicious's so you shouldnt have much to worry about.

Not true. A lot of people I know and I have ninthwards, all of us love ours and we have had no major trouble. One of my friends had a minor delam and he got hooked up with a free pair of next years skis. Ninthward and their skis are legit. Don't be turned off by this one paticular case if you were considering buying a pair.

ninthward has their shit together enough this year that if you email them they should warranty them

no guarantees but they should help you at

I know.. i'm not trying to hate on the company because I really liked the skis and i wish they didn't break. The top sheet definitely chips way to easily but I didn;t care because they rode so damn well. That lame kid was just giving me shit and stating the obvious like if you land backseat you're skis might snap... that kid a friggin genius huh

Even if they don't warranty them i won;t hold it against the company. I have worked in a reputable shop for 5 seasons now and I understand that its up to the company to decide whether a break is worthy of warranty or not.

anyway.. thanks for those who gave constructive input and keep it coming

taylor's heel piece of his binding ripped out of his ski because the shop mounted his binding wrong. he didn't break the ski, and due to the improper mounting was at a serious risk of injury.

Well I think i jinxed myself yesterday.

Today, shred down a powdery pillow field, pop my skis off to hike up and hit it again - oh look, my edge is coming off. These skis have never touched a rail or hit a rock. They've only been skied in powder, and the edge is coming out. This is no good. Let me know how you went abotu getting in contact with Ninthward, I'm curious.

theyre probably going to send you a package with one of their groms in it, and they will pistol whip you instead of sending you new skis.

What did you expect when you bought ninthwards?  Quality?  They used the same factory 4frnt used to use and the skis sucked balls, as did 4frnts.

same thing happend with me, just email ninthward, with pics, and you're reciept of purchase, it might take a little bit, but if you keep on wally he'll help ya out, dont worry about it
