On February 25th 2006, while skiing in the backcountry near Nelson B.C., Carey Bokser, senior production manager and team icon of Freeride Entertainment, fell to his death while attempting an extremely challenging ski descent.

The day started off as any Saturday in Nelson might- with a strong Oso Negro coffee and a day of touring at the ski hill. Carey and Eric Crosland, Freeride’s newest staff member, attempted to drop in to the face of Hummer Peak; a short, but very exposed, 55 degree face. Carey dropped in first, ski cut the line and felt confident. On his next turn, he caught the edge of his ski and quickly fell out of sight down the steep face through the rocks and over the cliffs below. Eric immediately skied for help while some other skiers close by tended to Carey. Local ski patrol and Search and Rescue were on the accident scene as fast as they could possibly be. To put everybody’s mind at rest and ease, Carey did not suffer after the fall.

Carey was the true center of the Freeride Universe and will be missed by all: none more then his beautiful wife, Anne, and his 10 month-old baby girl, Noa.

Yeah there has been a few threads on this, I've lucked out so many times in the backcountry that I somehow feel connected to this specific event even though I didn't know him.

R.I.P carey

RIP

his daughter will rip it up when older

hes skiing in the best POW there is. in the big BC in the sky....

just another casualty on the fine line we backcountry skiers ride....

rest in peace man, i hope youre havin fun and rippin up the endless powder field in the sky.

RIP...but I must say that after seeing the picture with him and his baby girl what he did was incredibly selfish. I know we all want to charge hard but there has to come a point, especially after having a baby, that you need to set limits.
