i feel like skiiers are claiming things are unnatty because we fucked up our proggresion. snowboarders spin both ways and dont think about it. it should be called left or right and you should need to spin bolth ways to be judged well

yeah, i agree. i dont have a naural direction. i can spin equally, left or right. granted, for some people, there is a big difference,but you can usually tell. it just looks different.

Ya they actually do think about it in snowboarding because it is a lot more difficult to spin backside than it is front side for them. Just let it go, no one is actually gonna try to change what stuff is called.

Ya but in general backside is known to be more difficult than frontside, same type of shit happens in skiing too. Some kid may spin straight one way but in a dspin spin the other way. It is all personal preference, but I was just tryign to point out that snowboarding still has that kinda thing going on.

Yea even sBs have a preferance to which direction they spin. One of my friends is a border and he spins backside all the time so there is a diff! And like sum one said no one is goin to change what they call their tricks becuase of ur thread on a skiing website

if you prefer to spin unnatural then eventually it's going to be natural. Unnatural is the way that is harder to spin for you and because it's harder to spin that way it should be labeled differently, otherwise why do a unnatural five forty when you can just do a natural seven twenty or five.

yeah i spin mistys on dboards and tramps 'unatural' but i dont really say thats what it is, and when i do rails switch i slide 'unatural' because im just used to looking over my left shoulder. so i guess you guys have a point. if you were super amazing and could spin eery which way i guess you would just have to call it left and right.

 
but if your like me and cant spin to the right worth shit, it defintly feels not natural, and if you cant slide rails as good left foot forward as right foot forward, i call right foot forward unatural because im not as used to it.

ok here is the deal, in snowboarding a frontside or backside is called that because of the position of your body in relation to the jump/rail. does not happen in skiing, you either spin right/left, unnatural came about when like two dudes could spin the other way, now it better be normal, a normal part of progression. i think the only problem is(especially in comps, when one does not know the natural way someone spins, a person could hit all hits rightside and if the judges dont know shit, then they think homie hit all the hits unatty). i believe that in the coming year most if not all skiers will be spinnin both ways, it will become standard. like a frontside or backside air, i guess i am down for the rightside, leftside deal, whatever it will all be called something else in five years

wtf dude... that is the whole reason behind left and right spinning, u HAVE to get good at both so u can do both and beable to do everything both ways so eventually it wont matter what way u spin... also rightside5 doesnt sound bad. unatural5 sounds worse.

Anna- I see your point, and in 5 years I'm sure unnatural won't exist anymore. But ninthward made the point that I want to make: right now people are still learning how to spin unnatural, and spinning the other way is still much more difficult for the vast majority of skiers than it is to spin their 'natural' way.

What does that difficulty mean? That means when I enter the U.S. Open big air and throw a switch 10 to the left, I should be able to claim unnatural, because I'm a rightside spinner and it's much harder for me to go that way. In five years when everyone can spin every which way however they please, then we can change the name. Again, like ninthward said, it's not something to bicker about because the change will come of itself one of these days.

No seriously in twenty years begginers will still be claiming for unnatural spins, cause if that dissappears then what the hell is the point of me doing a harder but smaller spin to my right? and if people just spin one way its REAL stupid. so if i nail a real hard trick thats unnatural im going to damn well claim it

 
calling something left or right would be dumb because they look exactly the same as eachother. in snowboarding a backside 180 looks way sicker then frontside, but in skiing a left and right 180 wouldnt be cooler 1 way.
