riding switch

Quick question. I'm riding on 169cm PE's mounted in the stock location(where their supposed to be mounted). I watch all my buddies w/ center mounted bindings ride & land switch really easy, but every time I land switch it's all wobbely and uncoordinated looking:^) Anyway, I'm just wondering, should it be easy & smooth to ride switch? I'm sure my bindings mounted towards the back have alot to do w/ it. I can't move'em though, cause I ride backcountry powder(alaska) 1/4 of the time. Anyway, any hints/suggestions appreciated.

It shouldnt matter that much, its just confidence and practice

yeah, keep yur hips straight, and pressure the fronts of your boots. to turn, instead of plowing, use a tele-like technique, where you scissor your skis. that always seems to work the best for me. just lean forward and keep your weight centered opn the ski.

Lets go skiing

definately just takes a bit of time and your switch will come along fine.

Last year I did so many 5's that the landings on those were looking better than the 3's and 7's.

That other guy had a point about scissoring your feet, I like doin it that way, it adds a bit of style to it too I think

This has been One Man's Opinion

'hey baby, it's no good if your friends can't have none'

--ride for^ever--

What do you mean by 'scissor' your skis? (sorry, I'm new to all the ski terms, I'm coming from a freestyle kayak background - blunts, enders, stabs, loops, cartwheels, flatspins, ect).

Tim

you gott put one ski ahead of the other. and my skis arent center mounted and i dont have a prob with switch. you just gotta practice

whats the difference between beernuts and deernuts?

beernuts cost a dollar 39 and deernuts are under a buck

Yea the tele-technique definitely helps. Ive been riding switch for a while now and ive got it down. Switching your skis helps to make a turn easier, just make sure that if you dont want to turn relax your ankles and pressure the fronts of your boots to keep a straighter line.

^Yea watch pollard in SM3: The Front Line when he's skiing the norwegian line, he alternates his skis while riding switch.

Hope this helps man, good luck getting switch down, Ride On.

what about switch in powder. i've never tried it, but i want to do some switch riding and 180's and stuff in powder this year. i have my mo'ships mounted in the factory rec position. is that a problem?

my level of radness... it just can't... be quantified.

binding position doesn't make a HUGE difference...most of these park skis are designed to be close to a 50/50 balance anyways hence the long tails. I always ride with my right ski pushed a little downhill which also allows me to turn my shoulder and look over. Taking jumps dropping switch ate my ass all last year, but it's a matter of practice.

think ice hockey for standard skiing backwards

for pow, you gotta be way over your tips. its powder, practice.

Yea, I have some Rossignol Scrath FS' from last season, and they arn't center mounted cause I ride both park, powder and groomed. Riding switch with them isn't hard at all, it just takes practice doing the 180, over, and over, and over again...

thats all it is practice. But staggering your skis (again, tele-style) seems to help quite a bit. And center mounting your bindings blows cause it limits the usefullness of the skis to the park.

As for switch in powder, I would suggest fat skis and a relatively steep slope. I've tried on my 10s (2001 blue model) and I don't seem to do that well.

I feel bad for people who don't drink, cause when they wake up in the morning, thats the best the're going to feel all day
