hey guys i got anthor riding swtich question when i land switch i stagger my footing and its easier like everyone said my question is which shoulder should i be looking over...when riding switch im lookin up the hill and my right foot is farther up the hill than my left (my left foot is leading if you will) now should i be lookin over my right shoulder which i do or my left (it feels more comfortable to look over my right) sorry i looked it up but i couldnt find a definate anser thanks guys merry christmas

it sounds like it would be easier to be looking over your left shoulder but i guess its just what feels right to u

there really is no answer to this. whatever youre more comfortable with. i cant look over my right shoulder when im riding switch so naturally im always looking over the left shoulder

yeah I do the same thing, I dunno why but I feel more comfortable this way ... guess I need more practice

if you spin to the left=left shoulder

if you spin to the right= right shoulder, but learn to go right foot forward kinda thing

whatever shoulder you spin off is the shoulder you should be looking over. and whatever shoulder your looking over that corresponding ski should be leading(left shoulder = left ski)

When I ride switch down runs, I look over the opposite shoulder. So when the right foot is leading (meaning I'm carving left) I look over my left shoulder.

just go out there and ski a few runs switch. the only way you can figure that kinda stuff out is by seeing what feels best for YOU. also, watch Eric Pollard. that'll teach you everything you can't figure out on your own.

look over the shoulder that you spin switch with because that is the dominant shoulder/side of your body. i have seen a really good skier from my resort who looks over his other shoulder when he spins so it is really what is most comfortable for you

Guess you better tell that to Bushfield, Cosco, and all the other guys out there who can kill switch spins with the "blender" or "blindside" takeoff.

It's all personal choice, looking over the shoulder that you spin towards is definitely more common, but it doesn't mean that is the only way to do it.

Your best bet would be to alternate and keep working on both sides, that way both way spins will come more easily.

what i think i've figured out about riding switch is that the shoulder i feel most comfortable looking over corresponds to how i stand on a skateboard (regular or goofy) i stand goofy and therefore find it esasier to have my right foot lead the staggard stance, and to look over my right shoulder,

i've developed a hiccupp when it comes to looking over my left shoulder because i can't ride left foot forward very well.

as for actually riding swich, staggar the legs, bend your knees, and leen forward over your tips. Take your time out on groomers and try to keep your field of vision open to as much of the mountain as you can

the shoulder you look over is not as important as the foot you lead with that is the important part. lead with the right foot to turn right and left to go left, lean into the turn just a little bit (you dont want to just lean sideways and fall over) if you have to make a sharper turn stagger your stance a little more by pushing your lead foot a litlle farther forward. sound good?

this guy explains it well watch the vid XD

good luck

Hey playa,

I ride switch so much, I feel awkward going regular.

Take the tip Mike Nick gave to me years back...and half these cats too.

Your head should in theory be looking toward the outside foot (in the direction of your carve) So par exemple...(notice the french emphasis) if you are turning to the left you're looking over your right shoulder, and vice versa.

Although, I usually just look over the right side all the time.

To make it super steezy and look sweeter than everyone else lean really forward, get into an almost crouched stance, and really lean on your turns...it looks badass.

Hope that helps pimp.

Cheers & Beers

Whatever feels right to you. I stager my stance but alternate depending on which way i turn if i turn left my left foot is forward and looking over my right shoulder. Then turing right its the opposite.
